Will it never end with this car, to get it through the MOT at the end of the month I need to weld up the sills and replace some brake pipes.

As usual I have a few questions.

1 - How do I get the side skirt off - I think its clips, and I think they will all break. Anyone know how many etc?

2 - Once the full horror is unveiled behind the side skirt, do I put a plate on the inside of the sill, grind and fill to make a nice job? Or slap a plate over the top of all of it and get out the red Smoothrite? Most of the repair will be under the side skirt (if it ever goes back on) so the tarting up work will be minimal.

3 - Is a Corsa sill the same basic profile as a Tigra sill? I quite fancy cutting out bits of a new sill to stick in (or on) but I cant find a Tigra sill. Tigra sills are probably longer and may have some holes for side skirt clips etc, but if the profile is the same as the Corsa that would be ideal.

What year is it? My 1995 Corsa (same floor pan) dissolved away to oxide and was scrapped in March this year.

Glass's guide puts it down to poor chassis protection at the plant.

I could price you some sills at the local shop, my wife drives for them on Saturdays so we get a bit of discount. You're not too far away to fetch them. My daughter just bought a Corsa that colour and they do look similar but I wouldn't bodge it if it looks decent, they are nice looking little motors.

Year - 97, apart from the quick fade paint and bonnet stone chips the rest is reasonable. The sills are terrible though, as you can see from the grainy photo.

I tried Davmac in Mansfield but they only list some of the front panels. I wont be replacing the whole sill, but I do like the idea of using 'sill bits' instead of forming my own plates.

I am not worried about the discount I dont want to put you to any trouble. If you think they may have them I would be happy to call them if you can supply the tel. number.

Personally (particularly if the car has a reputation for going rustytherefore any repair will only last as long as the metal it's attached to!) I'd chop out the rusty section, bend up a piece of sheet round something like a drain pipe to get the right profile, weld it in, then maybe skim some filler to fill the recess and spray it....

Thanks for the number but PCS didn't have one.

I have ordered a Corsa 3 door repair sill in case the are the same or at least similar cross section.

Will post pics of repair if they are not too embarrassing.
