Hiya guys.
Yup I'm back... with even more tintop issues! lol Will be SOOOOO pleased when the build finally gets finished.
Ok we are talking about a Seat Ibiza 01 reg (I have an idea it's a mk2 facelift)
It starts first time very time.... but when it's cold it refuses to idle. When I take my foot of the gas the revs drop right off and after a
brief pause it stalls. I have a feeling it might be the a fault with the air intake temp sensor... but I'm buggered if I can find where those
nice people at VW have hidden the bloody thing. Any thoughts/advice/pictures would be very gratefully received.
Also Do any of you nice people know where I can order some g12 antifreeze/coolant online at a reasonable price?
As always thanks for any help/advice/assistance in advance.
On a lot of recent models the IAT sensor is combined with the MAP sensor.
Could be the IAT but my first port of call would be the idle speed control valve
To stop the gueswork you need to get the fault codes read, this car will have a standard EOBDC socket.
To read the codes you need either a scanner or a pc interface compatible with the coms protocol protocol used by VAG.
Hand held scanners are surprisingly very cheap if you know where to look.

Hi
I had a '99 Cordoba 1.6 and that used have the same problem later in its life. It also wouldn't accelerate just judder etc.
Thinking about it so did an old golf I used to have. All very frustrating with many visits to the garage.
In the end the guy I sold it to finally got it fixed. It turned out that the throttle body was faulty and full of gunk. He had it replaced and all
was fine.
Temp sensor is built into the MAF. As said above, it's probably just the idle valve full of gunk, very common problem. Don't know of it's part of the tb or a separate valve on those, but either way find it, whip it off and give it a good soak and clean through in carb cleaner or petrol
ok guys thanks for your help.... but remember that although I'm a mechanics student I still get easily lost with jargon.
Where should I look for the idle valve?
If it helps it's a 1.4 MPI injection engine.
Would the car pass an MOT with this fault? If so I'll live with it till the summer when I can spend time looking at it (in the warm!)
