Odd that they left it where anyone could take high-res pics of it. Ferrari wouldn't let any press photographers into the launch of their car....

I visited the Honda F1 factory last year, and those things are definitely not locost!! Unbelievable technology in there tho. One of the departments we went past was the "sonic tuning team" - they watch footage of the other team's cars, and figure out from the noise they make what revs they're pulling, how much power they're putting out at those revs, what their tyre wear is likely to be.... All the costs that the FIA are forcing the teams to save is being spent on other ways of improving performance....

Having said that, I was quite pleased that I got my ample frame into the display car, tho I couldn't actually get my @rse into Taku's old seat, I was kinda sat on it.....

Should be a good season this year with 4 brits in.....

James - 16/1/07 at 01:18 PM

I helped make some bits of that car!

Looks good doesn't it!

Cheers,
James

Actually, I think that a lot of the radii would be Ok as they have to be quite rounded so as not to puncture tyres of other cars if they touch. Probably fail on noise though

That car looks great - I love the extra rear spoiler on the trailing edge of the engine cover.

Noise ... and mirrors, lights, wheelarches x 4, quick release wheels (all 5), adjustable brake balance, lack of a speedometer, missing cat converter and emissions... before the tester started getting picky

The wing is a work of art, but I suspect you need big chunk of power just to overcome the drag.

if you are quick and nobody sees you. i will give you a fiver for the mirrors...hehehe

ayoungman - 16/1/07 at 03:13 PM

it would make on hell of a donor car !

Agriv8 - 16/1/07 at 03:43 PM

What are the Red anodised item in the middle of the front wheel ( locking wheel nut ? ).

Or being sensible is it what they use to spin the wheel in the wind tunnel.

just curious really

Ps I know if that was in my office i would just stand there all day drooling

And I agree that just down right car Porn

regards

Agriv8

Confused but excited. - 16/1/07 at 03:43 PM

Can I have dibs on the wheels please?

zoom - 16/1/07 at 04:23 PM

Use it as a donor car?????

Right all i need is a r/h lightweight and start moving some of the bits over

Jon Ison - 16/1/07 at 04:32 PM

Looks a bit tastier than the Cateringvan on the stand in Comma oils reception, tried too relive it of the front cycle wings but failed...........

edit too add........... don't you think it looks like it will suffer from camber change and bump steer, oh and them tyres are far too wide for such a light car...........

Crikey - the attention to detail is phenominominominal... absolutely beautiful. Lets hope it goes as good as it looks.... McL haven't got a good record with reliability and new cards. Mind you, neither have their donor car Mercedes...

pleasant surprise.

marcyboy - 18/1/07 at 07:33 AM

it might look nice...
but how well does it do it the scheme of things.
when was the last time a McLaren won the F1 championship ?

coozer - 18/1/07 at 08:25 PM

Have to laugh, reminds me of the 'heritage' display in Ford Genk Belgium.

Mk1 Transit van, really old Taunis thing, Mk1 Escort, Mk2 Escort, Mk4 Cortina, Mk1 Sierra, Mk1 Mondeo. Great, no cossies or RS cars.

In reception they have a strange Galaxy/S-Max. Two half's of each, down the middle, Galaxy from the right hand side, S-Max from the left.
Oh and a really nice Duratec Turbo engine on a stand, I was really tempted to push it out and bring it back on the plane!

1998, but since then only ferrari and renault have won, so its not like they are shite! They were 3rd last year and 2nd the year before.
