what happened to the original smarts? I didnt know they had been discontinued...

wikipedia says they halted production in nov 05 following poor sales. shame nice cars the roadsters

Roadster and For Four discontinued, For Two (original) just revamped, still making them.

the smart was mid engined infact, should have looked into this abit more before posting this topic, but hopefully the AC version will have a biger engine cause haveing a roadster with a small engine is pointless

The new roadster will have the same mid-mounted 1.0 3cyl mitsubishi engine as the 2007 ForTwo. There will be 3 power outputs for the smart. 60ish, 70ish and 80ish. The small one will be N/A and the bigger one turboed. The AC Ace will have a manual box though.

someone needs to stick a bike engine in the back of one of those.

A manual box will be loads better for the smart roadster as the electronic sequential they use at the moment in far too slow. They handle pretty well though.
