I've got a problem- my dad and i are just about to begin building a 2.0 mk - collecting on friday (striped sierra in 2 weeks). It will be
kawasaki green with black arches - what colour should the alloys be? Black, Silver, Chrome, brushed black/silver, mixed black and silver, green!!
Then there are spokes how many 5 or 11? We have agreed that either 15's are the way to go
what do you guys think would like look the dogs doo-da's?
If you have black arches, go for green wheels.
i hope there are some more opions out there!
black powerder coat
hmm nice but how does one persuade my dad to go for the black option? he isnt having any of it!
Who's paying for them? I think that will decide who get's what!
Ah i did think about this as way of getting them! seeing as he is paying for MOST of the bits tools - if there is a tool we need i will just buy it - So i was thinking if i said that my big contribution to the could be the alloys - i should get my way right?
i would definately not have green wheels and would probably favour 11 spoke black wheels
yeah green was supposed to be a joke! i fancy black 11 spokes but someone suggested 5? def on the same wave as jos!
that is some seriously good thinking! well played!
one thing i ust ask is supply. what manufactuor should i be looking at for black wheels? of course good quality at good prices is required!
if i was choosing wheels now my main consideration would be weight. Id go for the pro race wheels from Mac#1. In terms of colour i refurbed an old set for my car and sprayed them in a graphite grey colour - well smart. Black is also very cool.

once he see's them on the car you'll change his mind then
Chris
its a good idea though, i'm seriously thinking about using this idea!

Wolfrace Street Octane if you wanted to know
Available from a lot of places, even some of the kit manufacturers... Not too badly priced either.
they look real nice seven spokes too, nicely in between - we like a bit of comprimise!
Pro Race 1.2s' are nice in black

Antracite are a bit of a compromise, silvery black, look quite dark from a distance.
I have OZ F1s they are 6 x 2 spoke if you get me.

Can be seen better here, of course i dont want you copy my choice of wheels! Superleggeras are nice, would have gone for them but these came up at a
great price on ebay.

your car is gorgeous! i like the matt/silver black look as well. the spokes are a nice a option as well! i'm just spoilt for choice! I'll
show dad this topic of black wheels and hopefully it will begin to persuade him!

Also greggors84 what size alloy have you got and tyre size? cheers

Something important to remember is the weight of the alloys.
I love the look of the Wolfrace Octanes, but they weigh in at nearly 13kg of a 15" wheel without tyre. Which is far too heavy for a seven type
vehicle.
If you work on 16kg with tyre fitted your wheels will weigh more than 10% of your car when finished.
I wanted to keep to the smaller is better but the cost of lightweight 13 inch wheels is stupid and the cost of performance tyres is even more so.
I'm using exactly the same colours as you and going for silver wheels. I played around with photoshop and found that the silver wheels worked so
much better than the darker ones.
What sort of budget do you have for alloys? I've just paid £230 delivered for a set of new light weight 15's. They come in at 4.5kg each
This would help

budget wise i would say 400 - 500 for alloys and tyres. i've just started to learn how to use photoshop at the start of this week. though i don't know how to use it to change the colour of objects - yet... Thats interesting about the weight though well worth making a note off
