DID U BUILD THAT?

Donners90 - 7/3/06 at 04:18 PM

No not me, unfortunately. It's off the http://www.spudtech.com website

SALAD - 7/3/06 at 04:25 PM

We built a propane one with a 3.5inch barrell. Packed in nicely, it put a castle nut through 1.5inch chip board. Launched apples out of sight, accross fields. Shot potatoes through car windows (scrap cars) and it was loud!!
Will have to find pictures.

Had many hours of fun with it untill the barrell blew to pieces!

Seriously not a toy.

Wicked pieces of kit, if anybnody tries i'd suggest sticking with hairspray.

Its hard to get the mixture right with lighter gas, and just that little bit more dangerous me thinks!.

If ya stick with hairspray they fire many thousands of shots with no signs of damage.

phillippe - 7/3/06 at 04:46 PM

i just try ed brake cleaner not ever again
i sh....t my self

greggors84 - 7/3/06 at 04:50 PM

Im sure there was a thread on here not so long ago explaining that when you burn brake cleaner, it produces a gas not disimilar to mustard gas.

So probably not the best fuel!

No that I would ever suggest somebody trying such an irresponsable thing

But I should imagine oxy-acetalyne would be quite good

Probably not very good in a contraption made from PVC drain pipe. I think that would be called a fragmentation grenade...

Oxy-acetylene in a bin liner, ignited by a glowing welding rod makes an impressive noise and shock wave. Also gives good hearing damage if ears not protected...

55lbs of spuds later.cost £60 to build

I love the legality issues comment on the website. 'If it's OK to fire a shotgun in your location it's probably OK to fire the spudgun' Rules out most of the UK!

phillippe - 7/3/06 at 07:17 PM

I'm Innocent officer my Nana got it 4 me 4 my b day

cossey - 7/3/06 at 07:40 PM

we made one at school out of bakedbean cans and it fired tennis, we managed to get 900yards out of it.

they are illegal in the uk as they count is a mortar.

Dont use Rainwater Pipe... use the DW40 sewer / drains pipe (I think its the Brown type pipe) (A BIG ?? on the actual number / type) as its much heavier grade..
Search around the net as there are many references to the best grade of pipe to use especially if using gas explosions to power it. Search on the net for Spud gun.. there are references to the best type of pipe.

Just take care.

PLEASE THINK SAFETY FIRST.

They are great fun... but get it wrong, and a facefull of high speed chards of brittle plastic will shred your face quicker than a cheese grater.

Lightweights.... Looks more fun if you take the spuds out the equation to me
