I had been thinking of buying a second cam thats smaller in the pocket than my canon A70. I had seen these in tesco for some time and thought they
must be crap. But i took a gamble and what a great thing it is for the price.
I paid 40 quid - its now 60 - but still on the web site at 48 quid. inc vat and del.
Altho there is no zoom lens, the pic quality is really good - i think its better than my Canon!
Even the flash works well with a good range. Colours are great and pictures are sharp.
It has a movie mode too - what isnt stated it that its at 25fps (and it wasnt in the least bit jerky) and it also has sound (when played back on a
pc). Comes complete with rechargeable battery, charger and a leatherette wallet and usb lead. Memory is 14mb - a 256 card from ebuyer is only 14 quid
and tesco have 128mb for a tenner.
If you want a DECENT camera with good features, and dont have a lotta dosh, give this a go.
You will be amazed at the value
I dont have shares in Tesco btw

The stores are full of them, they cant seem to shift them for some reason.
I had a look at christmas for my son and was put off by the dedicated battery, its much easier to load up AA or AAA bateries if your stuck.
Also the movie mode has no sound,in the end i got my son a nice little camera on the net which took rechargable AA's and had soundfor almost the
same price.
sorry steve i didnt read the thread properly, you say it had sound.
When i asked instore they checked and said it didnt
In the end i went to epc buyer and bought a mustek Gsmart D50 with a 128mb card and a 8-1 card reader delivered for £77 so i was happy and the camera
is spot on.

The manual didnt even mention it has sound - i found out by reading an online review.... and it has pretty good sound at that.
My local large tesco had loads of the 3.3megapixel ones at 27 quid - inversely to what you felt, I didnt like the aaa batteries as they would prob
only last five mins.
If the battery gets shagged, it looks pretty dedicated, so would be hard to replace as you stated. Still, most cells of that type are good for 300+
charges and thats a lot of pictures!
cheers
steve
Woolworths do a similar job for about 45 quid that takes AAA's and pictures as below.

.......and a night one from Ackworth....

the battery isnt special after all - its an NP40. can be bought for 10-15 quid on the net, and about 9 quid all up on ebay

Fuji sell refurbished cameras on their web site pretty cheaply.
Very pleased with my S5500 I got for £152.
