I know bike engines are nice and light but I was getting fed up of lifting the engine in and out on my own...............

so i knocked this up, I'm for my sins 100kgs and it holds me ok.............

Ive got a spare length of track and a trolley too go with it if anyone local-ish wants it your welcome too call in and pick it up.........

takes the back ache out of becs.

Looks good, but I'd lose the pull lifts and get a set of 500kg chain blocks.

i havn't used it yet, but it does have a couple of drawbacks

1 its outside,
2 loads of chain everywhere(easily solved)

but it was cheap ie nearly bloody free, i scrounged or allready had all but the beam trolley.

I would be ahppy lifting a fair weight with it too however as its a home built thing i wont be.

at one point i had considered cutting a slot down the middle of the container and pushing the beam centre web down the slot so i could lift inside too. but that posed all sorts of problems.

P.S really like Jons solution much neater than mine

That looks very similat to my lifting contraption. I have a telescopic beam out of an ambulance. Designed to lift lardy patients. Ive extended to full length, one end rests on garage header plate, other end propped by several stud wall timbers. Black and tackle hangs from plate that is on castors. Top job and cost me £20 max.
