hit a fox at [ahem] 70mph
ned - 25/3/05 at 01:22 AM

Just on the way home from playing with a mates lathe at just after midnight a fox decided to jump out, as they do.

What I didn't count on was that it was still on the car 8miles later and fell off on the pavement as i parked my car on the driveway at home.

It was like a biology lesson from hell clearing the mess up.

Suprisingly didn't do too much damage considering the speed i was travelling at.

nice

you appear to have entrails hanging from the towing eye

i hope the fox was insured, looks like there's a claim in it

You will be having the animal rights activists onto you if you're not careful!

Ben_Copeland - 25/3/05 at 06:41 AM

That'll teach you not to do [AHEM] 70mph

wilkingj - 25/3/05 at 07:38 AM

Try a Badger straight into the Grill.. a mate had that , and when the bodyshop got the car a week later, they had to clean all the brains out, as it had permeated right into the space between the air con rad and the other rad.. and was right smelly by then

that was surely from an earlier breakdown.....
and while we are on the subject of foxes has anyone eaten one?... if so are they worth a try

madforfishing - 25/3/05 at 08:53 AM

Didn't Oscar Wilde say they were
'in-edible'?
If so, how did he know?
He also said the clowns that chase them on horses were the 'un-speakable'.
Thankfully this is in the 'Anything Else' Section, don't get me started.

I have had three pheasants commit suicide against my landrover disco since Feb. every time they get the nearside indicator and trim , it's getting bloody expensive.

Danozeman - 25/3/05 at 11:18 AM

i had several pigeons in the space of a week. One Hit the top of my windscreen and i had a nice pigeon shaped greasy mark on it for ages till i could be arsed to clean it off.. We had a vectra at work that hit a dear. There was hoof marks over the roof where it rolled over the top and guts everywhere. Needless to say it wrote the car off!!

white130d - 25/3/05 at 12:01 PM

Isn't fox hunting now against the law...
Perhaps you could prove it was suicide, the fox apparently threw himself into the path of you car.

My dad hit a deer at 60mph in his mondeo. The whole front was smashed in. The scaring thing was that we were going to go in the Lotus Elise!!!

The law says some thing along the lines of hunting mamals with hounds. So if your dog catches a rabit, thats illeagel. Chase a fox with dogs, then shot the fox before the dogs get it is leagal.

Mark18 - 25/3/05 at 01:38 PM

You were lucky - I nearly did that much damage hitting a cat at half that speed.

Mark

JamJah - 25/3/05 at 01:54 PM

Ok everyone. Drive your pugs accross the countryside blowing silly horns. ITS LEGAL

PAUL FISHER - 25/3/05 at 04:22 PM

could have been worst

Danozeman - 25/3/05 at 05:30 PM

EEEEEERgh thats disgusting!! I belt the bloke felt sick afterwards!!! He must have been splattered!!

DEAN C. - 25/3/05 at 08:12 PM

Ok Paul I give in what was it?

I've picked up a few fox bodies over the years in the name of vermin control, and if you'd been near a fox you wouldn't consider eating one as they absolutely stink.
And before you all start I hav'nt shot any for years and I would much rather see them running about .

flak monkey - 25/3/05 at 08:21 PM

The pic paul posted was one of a series of a deer hit.

Questions were raised about whether they were real or not though, as other pictures show the drivers seat totally covered in blood...so where was the driver! Etc etc...little things that point to it being fake.

I should get out more --- like most dedicated CSI watchers will have spotted the blood spatter isn't consistant

flak monkey - 26/3/05 at 10:46 AM

My girlfriend got me addicted to CSI...its brilliant!

Marcus - 26/3/05 at 10:47 AM

Apparently, the worst thing about large animal hits is in a low speed collision. If the beast comes through the screen hooves flailing, it ain't pretty!!
Happened to brother-in-law in New Forest

Marcus

phelpsa - 26/3/05 at 11:18 AM

Was it a horse??

the JoKeR - 26/3/05 at 12:48 PM

It was a deer hit with a mini-van or SUV. Blood & guts from the front end to the back. A friend of mine is a paramedic and said the color and texture looks just like what he's seen on calls he's been on. If it is a fake (and I don't think it is), it's a pretty good one.

Here's some more happy pictures:

License and registration, sir.

Damn Illinois drivers....

And if a deer isn't a big enough problem, how about a moose? I believe this is from Alaska. Moose are bigger than a deer, but smaller than a horse.

stephen_gusterson - 26/3/05 at 02:55 PM

only if with more than 2 dogs....

personally, id prefer a fox than a couple of dogs anytime

How do you turn a dog into a fox? Drink six shots.

It was sarcasm, but I am sick. Thanks for noticing!

JamJah - 3/4/05 at 01:29 AM

BEing a resident of the new forest i have seen several deer, horses, cattle hits. The one thing you are garenteed of which a mature animal (which that is with a hart like that) is dents.
If you dont believe me goto Stanswood Farm Scrappy. Where most end up!

On a slight change of subject, how come scrappys only have good tyres on their wheels nowadays? Do people ever wearthem down prior to scrapping?!?!
