Help what is this tool for
jacko - 30/3/23 at 04:24 PM

As above thank you

Is that an O2 sensor removal tool? They usually have a gap in the socket for the wiring.

Hmm, on closer inspection it looks to have a square jaw and what looks like rubber padding. Maybe not an O2 sensor then...

jacko

Any clues: Automotive, plumbing....(I ask, because I know many folks organise their tools in groups according to tasks).

My guess would be a plumbing tool of some kind for tightening/loosening a fitting on a tank. Although, as Slimy38 points out, it's got padded sections in the first opening. Perhaps to stop it damaging a softer part.

nick205 - 31/3/23 at 08:24 AM

Given your Dad was able to help with the car bumper, any chance it's a tool of your Dad's. Someone of his generation may know what it's for.

jacko - 31/3/23 at 09:29 AM

I’m sorry I have no idea what it’s for dad has never see it
I have a plumber mate I will ask him if he knows

well it seems to fit over a hex but have a slot for something such as a pin above that hex which does not rotate when you use the in either direction. Apart from that, I can't think of anything

nick205 - 31/3/23 at 01:47 PM

Fellow petrol head suggests a locking wheel nut key of some kind. Not seen one like it, but you never know.

I love these kind of posts! It gets the tired old brain working again

Could it be an injector removal tool?

pewe - 31/3/23 at 03:17 PM

Any progress on what this tool is?

I've asked a couple of guys at work, but no ideas here.

SteveWalker - 3/4/23 at 03:54 PM

Maybe a tool for tightening or removing something, with the slot allowing an attached cable to be kept out of the way?

This is what I was thinking maybe something like a electric pressure switch with wires connected but I don’t know what
I’ve been searching the net and can’t find anything

Well now we know what it is, but not why the slot is there. From the looks of the nozzle that it for screwing and unscrewing, a simple square hole, like a radiator key, would do the job and the tee-slot seems redundant.

If you click the link its to allow the head of the sprinkler to fit in the tool.

Info passed on to my work colleagues so they stop wondering

Ah, of course - the disk was just not visible in the sales picture and I didn't even think about it.

I'm betting that many maintenance people just use an open-ended spanner though!

gremlin1234 - 4/4/23 at 02:47 PM

most of my research is usually local history, nice to have a different challenge.
so in summary
it is a tool for tightening (fire) sprinkler heads into recessed fittings.
