You need to speak to Dean C. He made those things all the time and raced them !!

Big Stu, just looking at your first photo, I think you may need to fit shock absorbers along with those springs to stop the thing pogo-ing all over the place like in the second photo.
Have you seen this mob?

Looks very Bowlerish to me,or is it your own take of the design.
We wrecked so many shockers we started using standard ones as they were free, only trouble was we needed three per corner to stop them buring out so quick.Anything below 30mph hurt like hell, rock hard.
Ours was a class 9 special with 3.9 v8 and 3speed auto with centre diff welded up,geared for 106mph flat out.
Yes we often were flat out if the clerk of the course had forgot to shorten the straights, especially if the club was Emorc,we couldn't keep up with their top lads,Monaghan and of course the Simmonites etc, they were fast!
Fond memories and a back !

Don't remember the Simmonites being lads actually

I do

Big Stu - 12/1/05 at 11:16 AM

It is based on the bowler space frame but with a few tweaks. A local blacksmith has done the frame for me as I am not confident to make a roll cage that I might have to depend on.

Trying to mount the shockers is the next thing on the list.

Dean, Did you ever do the scottish hill rally. I can remember seeing a motor there with tripple standard shocks. Green if I remember correctly?

As for the simmonites... you still would though... after a few.

In answer to your questions in order,
NO ,dont think so

and NO COMMENT,

(One of the Simmonite ladies married Matt Lee who lives very local to me),Matt of course is very well known in the off road world as an excellent fabricator and engineer.
