Unpleasant?

sgraber - 27/10/04 at 05:58 AM

Oh no... That goes waaay beyond unpleasant. Fugly comes to mind. What in God's name was the builder thinking? Hubcaps? A nose like a pig? ahhhghhh...

That looks like it might be a Spitfire/GT6 rebody to me...

Any ideas?

SeaBass - 27/10/04 at 07:25 AM

Doh... Just read the listing on eBay.. Surprise surprise.. Triumph on the logbook with spit engine. I recognised the wheelbase how sad...

Well, it may not be pretty, but judging from the pic, the grp appears to be well-moulded.
Seems to be a 1-piece type. Wonder which way it hinges?

stephen_gusterson - 27/10/04 at 09:45 AM

lets face it, a seven isnt exactly a thing of beauty is it? big open cigar nose, sticky out arches and a slab sided back.

So it follows mine wont be either as its based on one.

I think we build these cars for the 'did it myself' and performance aspect.

If it were just as easy, and similar cost, would we not be building ferrari replicas, Etypes or TVR's?

beauty, beholder, all that stuff

In my opinion it seems very well build and when the nose cone was pointed more down and the front fenders a little bit closer to the wheels it actually is a nice example!

derf - 27/10/04 at 08:16 PM

Is it amphibious?

derf - 28/10/04 at 12:29 PM

amphibious mean (in US-english) that it can float on water and drive on land.

MautoK - 28/10/04 at 12:46 PM

It reminds me of the Magenta which was a BMC 1100/1300 based f/glass tub type of 'kitcar'
A mate built one - it was 'orrible

Peteff - 28/10/04 at 12:56 PM

That's what it means in U.K. English as well . You could use the wing mirrors for rowlocks, if it had any.

I like the power bulge

its not actually that different from a normal seven - just the stubby wings and modded front. look from this view... Rescued attachment a9_12_s.jpg
