Yep that's me
Yep, you are certified, card carrying, got the T shirt, read the book, totally insane.
Looks like bloody good fun though, SVA might be a problem?
Yes , You are crazy! Thats the weirdest lawnmower I've ever seen!!
I hope you have a tail rotor or you are going to get very dizzy.
It is not visable but i do have a small tailrotor aldo it' s not really needed.
If you have a close look you will notice that the rotor is not driven by a shaft. It has 3 small tubes on top of the rotorhead through which LPG is
fed. This LPG runs through the rotorblades to feed 3 small jet engines(not mounted on the blades yet).
The only torque produced will be from the main rotorhead bearing which is neglectable.
This project is on hold for the moment but i intend to pick it up again.
daddle daddle dar Inspector Gadget. Go go gadget hedge trimmer .
Life is too short not to!!
where did the pic go?
Flown away
Picture visable again.
So not content with the not inconsiderable dangers of flying using a backpack mounted rotor, you have decided to also carry around a big cylinder of compressed LPG? Completely insane, top man!
Totally insane, love it
I'll recognise you if we ever meet, high pitched sqeeky voice caused by the crotch straps on lift off.
Serious question. Is this a commercial product? Does it really work?

Cita,
Does this thing use Gluhareff jet motors?
For those who haven't heard of them - these look like they're pulse jets, but they're actually tuned pipes that give huge thrust for
very little weight. They rely on the fact that the fuel is already compressed (liquid propane), which means that compressor fans aren't required.
Oh - they also glow orange when they're running!
I know that Gluhareff made a very similar personal helicopter many years ago...
rgds,
David
That is by far the coolest thing I have seen ever. SWEET!
with jets on the rotors, imagine how cool it would look at night!
I need a lie down.
No i'm not using the Gluhareff pressure jet.
I've built one a couple of years ago and the test results did'nt give what was desired. It indeed was fun running that thing in the backyard
and yes it glows redhot when at full power. If you guys think your tiny cars make noise...try one of Gluhareff's jet's!
I intended to use small ramjets and designed/built a couple of them but they need a certain speed to produce efficient power. This speed up system is
notting but ballast once the ramjets are up to flying speed and the idea was abandonned.
I'm now looking for rocket power (high concentrate Hydrogene Peroxide) but this is still in the investigation stage.
As for the high voice,i dont think that paratroopers all have high voices
I do have the construction darwings for the Gluhareff MEG-2-X back pack helicopter

very cool!
Crazy
Have you taken your medication today!
I have to take one of these each day:
Asaflow
Captophar
Emconcor
Plavix
Zocor
and those are only to keep my engine running.
But i assume you are referring to my mental health Mango?
I'm afraid that's terminal

Very good observation Dave.I noticed the same in that picture but i can assure you that the curved site is up (flat bottom).
Because the airfoil section needed to be extra thin (high speed)i designed the airfoil myself and the outcome was a leading edge with a somewhat odd
shape.
Love the engine Mango!!!!
I certainly will be safer than my contraption but...you cannot hover with it unless you have some headwind.
Very cool thing however!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys!I knew i was crazy, just needed some confirmation
It is designed Steve to take around 100 kg of pilot in the air.
Some ten years ago we did some modest advertisement with a similar concept and we where surprised that the...industry showed great interest(pipe line
controle-power line controle-search and rescue etc...)
Sadly my partner was a buisiness man who'd promised things that where impossible and the project died at early stage.
It is not that you need great balls to fly this thing, just a very,VERY small brain
Maybe I missed this earlier (in my amazement that someone would actually try this) but, has it actually flown? and is there a video to prove it?
Graber
No Steve it hasn't flown...yet.
This is a project i started all on my own and in the past i spent(wasted?) alot of time in trying to find/build the right tipjet engines for it.
As usual the lack of proper funding is slowing things down significantly. The stupid idea of starting to build my own car certainly will not help
moving things along.
I'm not the first one who attempted to build such a craft. As early as the 1940's an American, Horace Pentacost, builded what can be regarded
as the first real attempt,a back pack helicopter.
The Hoppicopter as it was called was partially succesful but after two more prototypes the project was finnaly canceled.
The Danish engineer Vincent W. Seremet was probably the most productive amateur. He constructed no less than 4 back pack type rotorcraft.
The most succesful back pack helicopter was probably the one build by Mc Gill. It used 90+% Hydrogen Peroxide rockets placed on the tips of the
rotorblades.Several succesfull flights have been made with this helicopter but the cost of the fuel was the killer of this project.
Thank you for your attention students
End of helicopter history lesson N°1
Cita
Would you not be better of trying a contra-rotational rotor - like the Airscooter but without the gubbins to sit on!
ATB
Simon
Yes Simon i have been following this machine for a few years now.
It was originally designed by the Nolan brothers who, when they started to design it,knew NOTHING about helicopters, hence the unconventional(and
succesfull) approach.
They determined the rotordiameter by shorten it after each testflight untill the performance dropped!
The Airscooter is a very stable helicopter but the co-axial system is rather heavy.
A tipjet driven helicopter is the lightest concept possible for short flights or ultra small rotorcraft.
take one of these paramotors and your gizmo we got a locost autogyro!
It's on my list of stuff for when I win the lottery.
Something like that is in the works Mango!
Jump start with single cilinder engine, but not by me
You dont have to win the lottery Peteff to build a Gyrocopter.
There are (excelent and proven) free construction drawings available on the inernet. The Gyrobee construction drawings are downloadable for free.
Look at Gyrobee by Dr.Taggart.
http://www.moller.com/aerobot/
I've got the gyrobot website in there as well.
somewhere on this dam computer, i have plans, how to make, a gyocopter, which u tow behind ur car
Phil
I love speed:If it needs to be towed to get in the air than it's called a gyroglider not a gyrocopter.
[Edited on 14/10/04 by Cita]
I've got the gyroglider site as well.I'm looking forward to some flight tests on the project now Cita.

That guy is....I dont know
I've been reading his story's for over 25 years and he has spent millions of dollars on his flying saucer-aircar-whatever you name it.The
good thing is it was allways someone elses money
Moller is one of those figures......
Good one Peteff
