I'm looking for a couple of marble worktop offcuts around 750x500mm preferably ~25mm thick
any ideas where I could find them without paying a fortune ?
also what do you need to drill a small dia. hole part of the way though it ?
cheers
-Robert
Is 750 x 500 about the size of a sink / drainer?
Perhaps local kitchen showrooms / fitters?
Marble can be drilled easily using a masonary bit, but no hammer action. Just keep it well lubricated.
^^^ What he said. Marble is very soft and breaks really easily.
I got a couple of pieces 30mm thick, one about 1500x300mm and other 600x400 (ish) with all the edges
finished for £80.
I went to a local granite supplier and told him what I needed and it was a to be a "cash sale, no rush, even
if I have to wait a few weeks for an offcut"
Only took a week.
cheers guys, I've been looking for the sink/cooker offcuts, but these all seem to be cut in the factory
I bought a piece last week for £20, but I was told to cut and polish would be 3x that amount. Did it myself on the tile cutter and polished with wet & dry. This was a monumental masons who also did kitchen tops.
That is going to be one heavy dashboard!

I'll need to try one of them sometime....
but I'll make do with these for now
I can get off cut's from the local fireplace producer who have quite large piece's left over which they mostly skip
