BIG TRUCK
nick205 - 21/7/04 at 08:28 PM

My plan has worked!

I have been leaving old copies of kit car mags with my dad who has taken an interest in the cobras.

And now, much to my mum's dismay, he has decided to build one.
The first step towards this was the EBay purchase of a hevy pick-up truck for the engine and gearbox. This is ow sat on their drive looking very big.

Which will be faster? my Indy or his Cobra.....we'll have to find out! Rescued attachment big truck.JPG

Cobra of course because more slender in shape

That looks like any drive here, I even have one of those...that looks like a 1979, with a 350 CI v8, and either a 4 sp or a turbo350 Auto transmission. Am I close?

Nice one. It didn't work for me. I left some kit car magazines around the house.

Now I have had to agree that once my Indy is finished I'll build the wife a Cobra!!

She has (VERY) expensive tastes, didn't like the Sumo, prefers the Dax with 17" alloys, twin side pipes, a "proper" (American) V8, blue metallic paint and twin white stripes.

Beware getting family into this mad world!!

indeed it's a late 70's 350 ci with 3 speed auto transmiaaion. The 'BIG' engine looked very small in the f**cking cavernous engine bay. Now it's removed and sat on the bench it looks somewhat more purposeful.

It's making my overbored Pinto feel a little inadequate.

Hell, most of us were born(or at least concieved) in one of those! And to answer your question....the cobra! Chevy 350'S are very tunable make loads of power and frightening torque....he should have a blast with it!!!...

350 cui 420 bhp 440 lbs ft + locost =

I really like Cobras. My choice of a bike engined Locost is so I can have 4 sec 0-60 for 5k pounds and have those expensive M3 and Z4 seeing my rear. When I turn into an old fart and I'm scared of that I'll trade it for a nice Cobra with leather everywhere. That's assuming I don't bend this one in some roundabout. Anyway, really nice project, I'm jealous!

It's not that big of a pickup truck really... Not when compared to the BEHEMOTHS that are rolling around here all the time. People in this part of the world (Arizona) use H1 Hummers as their daily drivers. Pretty friggin insane.
