RAYLEE29 - 23/1/11 at 04:22 PM

Hi, any of you guys know a good forum for bikes/choppers or trikes?
I have an old military indian 741 and been toying/dreaming of painting/civilianising or modifying it for almost as long as ive had it but dont know where to look for advice.
any suggestions or thoughts welcomed
thanks in advance Ray

Confused but excited. - 23/1/11 at 04:29 PM

Absolutely not!

The only sensible thing to do with a bike this old, is to give it to me.

Ever seen the worlds fastest Indian?

If not, watch it and then do that

I think I would re finish it in a civilian colour scheme,

Would probably have the wheels rebuilt with Chrome or Stainless rims and spokes, - don't like black spoked wheels.

In reality you can do whatever you like, but I wouldn't do anything that couldn't be undone, just thinking about selling it if ever you do, the RC Anoracks would be out in force.....

Something like This

Restore to original. DO NOT mess (or chop) it about.
I'm green with envy that you actually have somethign nice like that!

Keep it as it is, it would be like painting a tash on the Mona Lisa Unless it looks like this

definitely do not mod - plenty of stuff around you can mod if want to but that is a real treasure and should be treated with respect

RAYLEE29 - 23/1/11 at 05:41 PM

Its definately a lot better than that one lol

WE NEED PICTURES!!

I would stick it back to its original military scheme, if it was mine

I would like to do another old bike, but, I've just strripped the back axle from the e type, and thats going to be like restoring a whole bike.

I think you need to start a photo rebuild log, nothing like looking back at what you started with to demonstrate progress and keep the motivation up.

Perfect for a diesel engined bike project. There's prob a million of those old things lying around, so modifying one ain't a real prob
