I am a Radio Ham, and I have my own antenna mast in my Back garden and I get dizzy climbing that and its only 40ft!

I know a couple of Antenna installer guys that are mast certificated and have seen them climb a 350ft mast. Makes me dizzy just looking up from the ground at them!

It just makes you appreciate your own job especially if it keeps both your feet firmly on the ground!

Its a good video, and has been about for quite a while. Just Surprised it turned up on LCB. Still there is a varied bunch on here anyway!

bloody hell! clipping on slows you down!! You would have plenty of time to think about clipping on should you fall off!

I think you would have time to write your own will and testiment if you fall off..... with a quill pen and ink....

wonder if they ever thought of a parachute? too heavy maybe...

People who do stuff like that must have part of their brain missing.

I used to work with an old chap that was paid extra during WWII to go up the massive masts they had then, he laughed about it as it was worth an extra shilling or something, but then he also did headstands on telegraph poles....

He had a good reason not to be scared of heights, before the war he worked on the very last of the tea clippers as a lad, going to the top of a 4 masted schooner in a force 9 gale made anything else easy

I was thinking about parachutes for that oh sh*t moment as well.

At one point right at the top he's not even holding on whilst he mucks about with the carabina.

My Dad used to work on 240 and 360 foot masts in the war. Some of them were made of timber, sitka spruce I think. One type was called a Marconi Pencil if memory serves me well, was dead straight and was simply mounted on a large steel ball on the ground and supported with steel guys. Definately squeeky bum time!!!

No Brains or an 18 year old.

Many moons ago when I was an Electrician, I was sent to a Radar Tower.
I thought Wow that will be cool.

Not so cool when I found out it was this

All 350feet of it.

And yes I had to go to the Top.

Then told you need you tools up there as well , And DON'T drop them
