Obscure sportscars

Anybody know of any really unusual ones? My first nomination is the

Cizeta-Moroder V16T, with only 10 being built. Any more nominations?

This thing had a transverse V16, 4 valves per cylinder. Imagine hand-lapping in 64 valves

One coursework is my auto design peice, im resigning the front suspension of a 7 style car. So its fairly interesting...

I mis the Bristol Fighter in that superb list

greggors84 - 24/5/04 at 06:16 AM

What about the edonis, bit GT90 looking with maclaren f1 esque front end. Performance not too shabby apparently...

mackie - 24/5/04 at 12:12 PM

I've heard the Dauer 962 is "quite quick"

mackie - 24/5/04 at 12:23 PM

What about this:

The Vector WX3.
Apparently it has 1000bhp and a 3 speed auto and does 0-60 in 3.3 seconds.

flak monkey - 24/5/04 at 12:24 PM

The Dauer 962 spec is as follows

All carbon fibre bodywork, twin turbo flat 6 engine (thatd be porsche then ), 730bhp, 700Nm torque, and weighs just over 1000kg

That translates to 0-60 in 2.6 seconds and 250mph (est.) top speed...

So yeah...its 'quite' quick

Cheers,
David

mackie - 24/5/04 at 12:43 PM

Yeah, it's basically a street legal Porche 962 le mans car, pretty mental. Evo featured it in an issue not so long ago, along with the crazy Elise GT1.

flak monkey - 24/5/04 at 01:00 PM

Yup the Elise GT1 is nice.... (Im an Elise fan...)

3.5 litre Twin turbo V8, 580bhp. Weighs exactly a tonne. 0-60 in 3.8secs and top speed of 200mph.....

Real british engineering too

I saw it in the supercar paddock at goodwood last year and didn't realise what it was. I though it might have been a rejected Exige prototype or something.
In the Evo article they said the boost could be easily doubled...

flak monkey - 24/5/04 at 01:29 PM

Nice what sort of power are you looking at then? 650-700bhp maybe?

mackie - 24/5/04 at 01:40 PM

I'd estimate it would be quite a bit, yes
The tyres on it were a bit knackered but I think the owner had managed to convince some tyre maker or other to make up a new set (they were bespoke).

flak monkey - 24/5/04 at 02:01 PM

The tyres on the GT1 are:

F 235/40ZR-17
R 285/35ZR-18

All i know is that i wouldnt want to buy the new ones....mind you those on the back of the Dauer are 355/30
