New Project. How old is too old?
ReMan - 1/6/10 at 09:39 PM

Take one old (fat) bloke, a broom, a case of Stella and a new toy.

Day 2:
Hurty legs, knees, ankles and bo**ocks and about 1.2 seconds of balancing!

How long before I'm up or dead?

Is that the one I spotted in Lidl the other day?

ReMan - 1/6/10 at 09:44 PM

Yep, wanted one all my life

Davey D - 1/6/10 at 09:49 PM

Riding a unicycle is something ive always wanted to have a go at

blakep82 - 1/6/10 at 09:55 PM

whats the broom for?

matt_gsxr - 1/6/10 at 09:56 PM

I used to have one, and used it to go the pub when I was at school (A level years). It was good because it was quicker than walking, and you could put it in the back of a car for a lift home.

DON'T try and ride it after more than 1 beer. Everything happens quick on a unicycle (its fundamentally unstable, unlike a bike), and you need all your reactions.

Keep at it

Matt

Its not hard when u know how.

Pop onto the seat, lean forwards and just about start to fall off (forwards) then PEDAL LIKE FU*K

Basically, you pedal to stop your self falling off the cycle in a forwards motion.

Its like a 2 wheel bike, once you get the hang of it, its easy.

Keep on the grass... its softer!

Good Luck

It's gotta be the hardest thing i've tried for years.
But I'm avoiding saying impossible Though the web suggests 2-3 months practice for the average just to stay on it!

The broom is for balance.
The suggested learning is hanging onto a wall or something, but I havent got one of those that gives a soft landing for the bike hence the broom on the lawn.
I've only landed on my arse once so far, but the bike takes abeating going down time after time

I was taking a walk with my daughter recently through a local wooded area that has a cycle path through it and we were quite surprised to see a bloke zoom past on a unicycle though! He stopped further on and we caught up and chatted, apparently he does at least 5 miles a day on it!

Peteff - 1/6/10 at 10:20 PM

I want one of those and a pogo stick

mangogrooveworkshop - 1/6/10 at 11:50 PM

Ive got one and Ive got on quite well.
I had to stop when it was icy.i am in the mood for some practice tommorow.
Ive even found a new secret place at work that we can use to practice

I've always fancied having a bash at it, can do a pogo stick and okay with juggling 3 clubs (couldn't get the rhythym on 4)....

Could combine all three and go join the circus

ReMan - 2/6/10 at 03:36 PM

Yea can pogo, Juggle 3 balls badly, and drink a pint in record time

So if I get desperate....
