Hi,

In my youth whilst posted to Germany I had one of them it was great, always remember a journey from Cornwall to Dover with a mate, whose mum had made us a couple of pasties and wrapped them in tin foil, by the time we got to Dover they were still hot, we had put them on the heater vents.

Regards

Bob

Ringwalds Character had one in 'Pretty in Pink', They're valuable now which causes many people to site it as a problem with the film (She was poor) but they were aparently worthless in the mid 80's.

There is a simillar car that VW australia made which looks even better but I forget the name.

Is there a more extreme example of a car that looks fast but isn't?

Matt

Only early bug that will go fast enough to blow the engine, 80+ MPH, don't ask me how I know.

tegwin - 19/10/09 at 09:41 PM

I would LOVE one of those... put a fiddle porsche or scoob engine in it... and go cause some chavs misery

splitrivet - 19/10/09 at 10:35 PM

A Karman Ghia I'm having an organisation just looking at it. To me its the most beautiful car ever designed, next to a Porsche Speedster.
I would happily hack off my right Goolie with a set of my Grannies old dentures to own one.
Unfortunately they were powered with a wheezing 1500 VW crappy engine but put a modern block in and who would want a Ferrari.
Cheers,
Bob

With those wheels and in the company of that photo, there could be a decent engine in the back of that one!

I was offered a mint one when I was 17 (17 years ago! ) for a couple hundred quid, it needed a new carb and that was it (or something like that!) - Boy, how do I regret that NO!!!

ditchlewis - 19/10/09 at 11:00 PM

It could also be one of the kit/ replica versions.

And they get the rot like Mini's do, a mate 10 years ago spent £8k on a bit of restoration, and it still needs loads more work done on it .... they are gorgeous but total money pits and you need to spend £££££ to make them go fast....
