Stone guards - unhappy or being picky?

I have just received the stone guards that I ordered from a well known (but shall remain nameless at this stage) kit car part supplier.
Can't say I am happy with the quality and one particular area on both:

guard 1
guard 1


guard 2
guard 2


guard 3
guard 3


I emailed and this is the reply I received:
this is as good as the plasma can cut these,we have never had a return yet and have sold over 5000 of these in exactly this condition usually when you fix these you put a tadpole beeding all around (an sva/iva requirement) so this would not be seen but if no good to you if you send them back we will issue full refund

Now am I being a bit picky here and not entering in to the locost spirit or do I have reason to be unhappy?

I wouldn't be overly happy (especially if I wasn't planning on using tadpole trim) but I'd be reasonably okay after being offered a full refund....

I agree not good enough, but to be fair they have offered you a full refund - can't say fairer than that. I'd be happy with the customer service, but aim to get a different product....

id say its clearly a fabrication error, but they've offered a full refund (albeit after trying to defend themselves, which isnt outrageous). So what more is there to be said?

Presumably they've cut round the piece with the plasma torch and when they've gone back to where they started it's eroded the workpiece.....

Are they from lolololocost kit parts direct?
From what I have seen of their parts and cars, the finish is very much down to the end user to bring them up to to your standards

Surely if they hav sold over 5000 then they should be getting them laser cut with a 'roll on roll' off cut to eradicate this?

I would not dream of selling them like that unless specifically stating they are over size to trim to suit or similar

looks like they were cut by a blindman waing a plasma torch around.

if it were me, I'd want a refund and make my own from aluminium sheet.

Amazing that a company could be identified by its work?
I am not complaining about the customer service - albeit after waiting two weeks for an in stock product that was paid for instantly, even that isn't 100%. Its just the hassle of packaging the item up and taking a trip to the post office etc to send them back.
Would I then go elsewhere and get the same poor quality? From the replies, I probably wouldn't get the same poor quality elsewhere - thanks for the advice.

I've had 2 pairs of these from lolocost.

"For the price" they're fine after some fettling, but, if you don't want to have to mess around, pay the extra from someone else.

As for me, I'm happy with 'em, locost all the way

What kind of fettling? They are razor sharp along all the edges which needs smoothing and won't be a problem. How did you overcome a defect like on mine?

you need a big course file or flapper wheel to sort it

Lol, i was about to mention lolocost, as that's where I got mine from 5 years ago. They looked identical to those!!
I got some sharp tin snips and took 5mm off that edge.
Now got a Caterham carbon fibre rear wing to butcher and make some proper carbon ones

Just a trim with some snips, then smoothing the edges with a file, not rocket surgery

I must be getting both lazy and pedantic in my old age then!
I would rather the advert for them to have said "come with razor sharp edges which will need smoothing or hiding with sealant plus the precision cut straight edge will need trimming off to get rid of the imperfections"
If I had known this, I would have just gone to the local steel supplier and bought a sheet of stainless to trim myself. My point is that I didn't, I paid for a pair of stoneguards which I will now be returning.

Personaly I would not be happy with that on my car. I would take the "no complaints from 5000 sales" with a pinch of salt, get a refund and make your own from ali - not difficult and you can make them to exactly the size, shape and fit that you want.

If they've sold 5000 sets they should all have been laser or water cut. And as such, unless they were about a quid, there's no excuse for that. I would send them back and look elsewhere for another set.

mm i think it should be a dead giveaway when the dekivery driver ties up his horse and wears a stetson ???

but u can expect no more from GBS, robin hood, lolocost or whatever they are called this week.

If the goods are not as advertised then it is up tot he company to make good which includes arranging and paying for return shipping.
