I am looking at buying myself a Christmas pressie but was just wondering if the deal on this cabinet

I can either take 10% off buy going through the reserve option or I can get a load of tools £170 in value by going to the store.

Just wondered if I take the plunge now or wait for a better offer in the new year?

Thoughts please?

Anyone got one of these? Any good?

Also, anyone got a good quality roll cabinet for sale?

last xmass i got £500 in vouchers from the mrs ,i waited till the 5th jan and got evrthing i wanted in there sale ,i think it was 20% of evrything and my trade card discount on top.

it's like comparing a robin hood and a westfield. i have a halfords industrial roll cab and it's brilliant. i got it reduced when they changed the design slightly and quality went down a bit with the changes too. just a bit less rugged feeling and a slightly less secure lock.

either way, an industrial roll cab will last you indefinitely. top quality ball bearing runners on all drawers. i have a drawer full of hammers and another full of 1/2", 3/4" and air tools and they both run freely. latching drawers are good too.

i worked there for 4 years and there's not really any rhyme or reason to the discounts in the sale. probably worth waiting though.
buy one. you won't be disappointed.

ok, the Halfords one's got some kitchen drawer runners but I regard Halfords as pants and overpriced. I still remember when everything they sold broke on first use (unless it was made by someone else) Maybe it still works that way. I thought they just sold alloys, mats and stereos for kids to put in their Corsas?

Some of us would rather spend the money on the car than give it to Halfords.

How's that 1.6 Pinto engine?

that aint big at all. IMO halfords do half decent cabinets. it all depends what you want it for, im a mechanic and bought a BETA bottom box, had it for 250. that was with discount at my local motorfactors. as a top box i have a clarke HD blue. they are both solid boxes and i am really happy with them. at the end of the day you get what you pay for, but for light use at home halfords are fine.

Halfords arn't cheap I'll agree with you on that. But I would say that their professional and advanced tool ranges are at least as good as any others I've used (and I've used snap on).

Oh for the record I do work for halfords but only part time... I'll give my honest opinion even if that means recommending elsewhere.

As for the tool cabinets the halfords one IS superior to the others listed and not just because of the draw runners... However it's also priced accordingly. I guess it comes down to how much you can afford and how much you'll be using the tools. One mans value for money is other mans folly.
Unfortunately I don't know what new year sales there will be and what will be in them. Sorry.

Re. quality, Halfords Pro stuff is very good quality.

I don't work for Halfords and a lot of their stuff is a rip off at normal day to day prices, but I've never broken any of their proffessional range tools, including the fine tooth ratchet spanners which have been used beyond what I would call reasonable use.

Unfortunately no decent tool chests are cheap.

The better Clarke ones (the heavy duty ones with roller drawers) from machine mart are cheaper than halfords though, and there's always the option of secondhand really good ones.
