Trailer advice

Will my Indyblade stand any chance of getting onto this sort of trailer, bearing in mind the way the bed is made with lots of cross bars. More to the point would I ever get it off, without a reverse gear?
Or would I have to winch it on backwards , then drive it off?
Or could I cover the bed with plate or board to make it easier, or do I keep saving for a tilter?[img]http://locostbuilders.co.uk/upload/a550693-00e5_1_b[1].jpg[/img]

looks like those rusted bits in the middle serve as a ramp? it looks small to me... anyways it shouldnt be such a problem to push/drive the car on and off the ramp... you can always connect a winch to the end of the ramp to get the car on as you said...
it would be very helpful to rivet some plates where the wheels go, maybe that galvanized checkered plate? what was it called? diamond something....

The only thing to watch is the angle formed by the ramps/bed when loading / unloading. Short ramps and a reasonably high bed will lead to bottoming out.
I have fairly short ramps on my trailer but it also has drop down supports at the back which means that by detaching the trailer from the car, dropping the ramps and jacking the front up on the jockey wheel (and then dropping the rear legs to suit) I get a fairly smooth (and stable) transition from ramp to bed to get my grasser on.

Hmmm, did'nt explain very well. I mean the bits where the wheels run and wether they would be to "bumpy?" for a light car and impossible to push on/off?

Good point about the angle for thepoint of grounding and for me being strong enough!, particularly if I did have to push it on. I am hoping really for 1 man operation, so I may at least need a winch?

I made a similar style trailer for my car, drive it on and lift the front of the trailer a bit with the jockkey wheel, with it still attached to the car, and one little shove and it should roll off. I did have to alter the cross member at the back to miss the sump though but now works fine. Hope this helps a bit

That's very smart. I thing on the strength of it the one I was lookingat is no good, 18" high and ramps shorther than that, it's never going to make it on.
I qute fancy making my own , but I think I lack time and a flat surface, let alone plans!!
