New member searching for new car
Hi,
I'm totally new to this scene. I've just sold my Impreza P1 and I'm on the lookout for a nice Westfield, MK Indy, MNR or similar. My
maximum budget is 10k and ideally I would like the car to be very clean and tidy, well built and a spec to allow me to do the odd trackday as well as
road use. I'm open minded regarding engine type, ideally a 2.0l car engine with 170+ bhp or bike engine giving similar performance.
Thanks,
Jon.

This one looks nice:

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure

Thanks for the link but funilly enough I viewed that car at the weekend, it was fairly local to me. Nice spec but unfortunately a little too untidy
for my liking.
Thanks anyway.

For 10 K then there are a couple of nice ones out there - here's a couple I have spotted over a quiet lunch hour -
Nice MNR vortes with a 1400 bike engine - decent amount of grunt for a bike engine - good halfway house between BEC and CEC - fancy a trip to Northern
Ireland ?
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/bike-powered-cars/cars/2012-mnr-vortx-zzr1400/2259265
Stretches the budget a bit and may not be up to the quality/standard you want but the spec/price/fun is about as good as you will gt for a pukka
Caterham

xperiment=true
A tad over budget but I am sure Jeremy would be open to offers, you won't get a sweeter handling car than this !
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/kit-cars/sylva/sylva-j15-----2010/2250480
If you are set on a Westie then this would be my choice, fairly new, Bullet proof mechanicals and a good looker, if Waraickshire is not too far away
then Worcestersheer should be worth a drive out for this one -
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/westfield/all-models/2010-westfield-mazda-sdv-1800--lsd-superb-build/2261633?isexperiment=true
This would be my choice, all the performance of a seven but with aero benefits and race proven chassis (I'm biased as I built one but I am sure
there are many that will back me up on this one), top end price for a Zetec Fury but basically brand new.

Thinking aloud. Where are you based?
- Trackday car?
- Road car?
- Sprinting and Hill Climbing?
- Autotesting?
- Modern clean look?
- Classic and chrome?
- Windscreen or areoscreen?
- Bike engine or car engine?
I posted about a colleagues zetec tiger which is for sale with very few miles on it since he built it four years ago.
Failing that I have always had a soft spot for the MNR bodywork if you are after a newer/clean look.

Thanks for all the reply's and messages.
dhutch,
I am based in Worcestershire. I'm after an example with the modern/clean look, aeroscreen, carbon bits look nice. Something that's good on
track but can be driven there. So I guess in the spec list it should include baffled sump and fuel tank, decent brake setup and handling package. Like
already mentioned I'm not leaning one way or other toward bike or car engine.

Ugg10,
Thanks for taking the time to post up those links. I do like the look of that MNR but don't fancy a trip to Ireland. That Mazda based car is on
my doorstep but doesn't seem like the spec would suit trackdays. That Sylva look nice and interesting. My mate is currently looking to buy a
Fury.

Good afternoon Jon,
I have a MK seven I have just listed for sale.
Sounds like it could be about right for you, few carbon bits, great 190bhp 2.0l duratec and nice chassis set-up.
Fits under your budget too so you have a spare grand to put your personal touch on it!
