CVH Alt mount on a zetec
Slater - 20/8/08 at 08:57 AM

This is my CVH donor alt mount, it's a beast!. The mounting holes fit my zetec but it puts the CVH altenator 15mm too far forward. Can I attack it with an angle grinder and remove 15mm of material from the front bottom corner (as shown), then use washers to make up the 15mm at the back? Any problems with this?

Also, I'd like to remove some of the surplas material as it seems to be a little over engineered, just not sure how much to remove. Anyone done this before?

Keith

I made an alternator mount for mine using 5mm plate, that cast item is far to heavy and probably will put the alternator in a position where it fouls the inlet manfold or steering down link.Best to look for a small alternator and fab a bracket to suit.

way to much scrap metal there

I made one as well - dead easy, and miles lighter.

I chopped the top off the Zetec alternator mount and used that to fit a CVH alternator onto the Zetec, lines up a treat, just on the other side is all.

the faint line shows where i cut it, sure its a bit heavier than making one but it was free with the engine and i'm a big fan of LOcost! Rescued attachment Image021.jpg
