Can anyone confirm whether the M16 Cortina brake caliper fits the escort hub. I assume the same caliper fits both hubs but just wanted to make doubly
sure.
Thanks
Simon

make sure you dont get really early cortina callipers as they need tapered pads which you cant buy anymore !
if you are looking for callipers i think donut is selling some reconditioned ones or ive got some ready to be recond

Tapered pads in the sense that the backing plate is not square ant the top of the pad is wider then the bottom
NOT tapered pads n terms of the amount of material on the top and bottow is different you have miss understood what i meant by tapered pads
and im afraid whilst theoretically you are right i removed a set of callipers form a late mk2 cortina and whilst they look identical to the capri
callipers inside they were not they took tapered pads so i had to take them apart and take a grinder to them.
somewhat like in the attatched picture but it is exaggerated they werent thaty tapered if on the left is a normal pad and the right is the tapered
pad that i found in a later mk2 cortina calliper
forgive the innacuracies of the drawing i created it quickly in paint

In over 40 years in the motor trade I can't say that I have ever come across tapered pads as you describe . I have had to use an old file as a scraper to clean the accumulated rust and crap from inside the caliper to get the pads to fit Occasionally I have had to use a file on the top and bottom edges of the pads as well but that has been on crap pads
well i deffo took them out of calliperes thrat from the outside looked identical to m16 callipers and came off a ford cortine the cxallipers were also sort or specialyl designed to fit them nothing a few mind with a grinder couldnt sort and after grinding them out strandard m16 pads fitted im not saying they were standard fitment i was just advising caution and if you guys have neve rcome across them thats fdair enuff but i did lol
