Hi All

I have just moved into a new build house with a nice garage. What i would like to do is paint the floor to a) seal the concrete and stop dush being created everytime the floor is swept b) make it semi wipeable should oil leaks happen.

Can anyone recommend any products availible for the general DIY shop?

International Garage Floor Paint is available from B&Q. Which I'm using and seems fine.

for me it was £30 worth of cheap carpet that i run a hover over every now and again and its warmer on your feet

I've just done mine with Gibbons floor plaint, thin down the first coat 50/50, then 2 more coats. I also agree with the carpet idea, I've put down strips all round my car and it works like a treat. Just shake and sweep, keeps SHMBO happy as well.

Yep the car is now fully wired, as Mark predicted there was a few head scratches along the way, but i must say most of them were caused by me thinking about the problem too much and not doing the bleeding abvious.

Mark was great though out the whole experience, kept me on the straight and narrow.

Right off to Paint my garage floor.

I had a new floor in my garage and all I did was sweep it to remove the dust and then brush it over with a water/PVA mix.

It stops the dust great and is a cheap option but gets damaged easily by water or general wear so at some point in the future once the chassis moves !! I will paint it.

Sealing with PVA then painting with concrete floor paint is the best option.

Putting down carpet makes it easy on the knees but you need to be able to remove sections of it if you do any welding!!!! Carpet is surprisingly flammable.... even more so when soaked with a combination of engine oil, petrol, thinners, antifreeze etc etc.... Add aliminium dust and rust and you've got one big boom....

Tried floor paint, but it didn't last.

Then a client "accidentally" ordered a garage too many rubber floor tiles.

Nice It's soft too when kneeling down, seems warmer than concrete and when you drop tools / parts they don't roll away so fast!
