I have riveted my tank together using right angle brackets and 3mm alley. I now need someone to weld it together, and weld in the rivets. Cost so far about 20p for the rivets. Has any one tried this b4. Will it work or am i wasting my time.

Ring some ali fab shops from the yellow pages.

Someone should be able to tig it all together for you.

You have to be carefull over the long stretches. Welding will expand the metal and open the panel gaps. We looked at doing an alloy composite tank, made the same way yours is then using carbon tape bonded over the edges.

Not too far from you, try this guy: Mark at MRC fabrications Tel:01243775655. His workshop is in Lavant Chichester. His TIG welding is absolutly ace.

I thought the aerospace industry, F1 etc: have glues for sticking metals together that are stronger than welding? Wonder if anyone has though of using those?

Easier and more Locost is to use fuel proof sealants and rivet the tank together.

IMHO....You're trusting your life with this....get it done properly....a leaky fuel tank is a dangerous item - and getting it welded shouldn't cost that much. If you're on a serious budget, look around at the shows or go down the scrappy and get one of a suitable size removed from a production car.
