Winter... Time for modifications
Toprivetguns - 20/11/16 at 03:47 PM

So I've driven her as much as possible after passing IVA in September and now she's sorn for the winter.
My plans pending the purse strings include a TRT prop, accusump, improved oil pan and generally stripping the car to check all nuts and bolts.
Really looking forward to getting her on the track next year.

What has everyone else got planned?

A1 - 20/11/16 at 03:55 PM

I'd like to sort out an engine for her. Wee tidy up is all thats needed!

CosKev3 - 20/11/16 at 04:16 PM

New seats are here already.

Main job of forging and turbocharging my R1 engine is underway

hkp57 - 20/11/16 at 04:18 PM

Wilwood bias adjustable pedal box

Maybe alloy from uprights also

Ignoring the rollcages our cars are extremely similar - throw a zx14 in her.

I was going to say, nice colour scheme! Thats the ideal plan, but I just need her mmoving for now while I finish a few other projects =]
Is yours zx14 powered?

Toprivetguns - 20/11/16 at 05:06 PM

swanny - 21/11/16 at 11:35 AM

repaint now adjusted rollcage, change colour of bodywork from yellow to satin black, sort out overheating.

motivforz - 21/11/16 at 01:12 PM

Tidy up the locost to get her ready to sell. Just a few niggling jobs which I've been meaning to do for a while.

On the new (to me) fury:

Just itching to touch the fury but I know the locost needs sorting first!

johnemms - 21/11/16 at 02:17 PM

Make new bonnet...
forgot latches ..
flew off at high speed

Oh and swap flyscreen for a windscreen if I get time..

mark chandler - 21/11/16 at 07:38 PM

Replace turbo
Upgrade megasquirt to spark as well
Take it to Dale for mapping

907 - 22/11/16 at 09:29 PM

I intend to remove a load of excess weight.

Mainly from the drivers seat.

Engine rebuild for me and HD long 1st type 9 which I've just got, some new cycle wings & stays and new dash layout.

Adamirish - 7/12/16 at 12:41 AM

Fit new seats and harnesses.
Pull the engine AGAIN to try and stop the crankshaft seal leaking. Maybe a further sump chop and modify sump guard to gain a bit of ground clearance.
Try and make it easier to start.
New shocks all round as one is leaking slightly.

Easy!

theduck - 7/12/16 at 06:21 AM

Fit and map megasquirt
Build new front end bodywork
Re work interior

steve m - 7/12/16 at 09:24 AM

Engine and gearbox are out, to try and find were the gearbox is leaking from and repair the gear lever selector that I broke in october
Ive give up with the engine leak, as its a xflow

Lightened flywheel to go on the engine, as I put the wrong one on there last time

change the prop bearings,

sort a rear oil seal leak on the axle

apart from that, nothing, as its the whole drive train this year

SJ - 7/12/16 at 09:35 AM

A heater and get my sidescreens re-fitted after moving the screen back.

chris - 7/12/16 at 03:22 PM

only a couple of minor mods for me do a full rewire and convert to fuel injection fit and map megasquirt
phew that sounds easy eh

13.5 kg removed so far. Looking forward to the test drive.

Toprivetguns - 18/12/16 at 02:17 PM

Engine and prop now removed. Very tempting to strip more parts for overhaul.

Must stay focused on the initial plan!

Toprivetguns - 29/1/17 at 02:31 PM

Modified sump now back from AB performance and TRT ready to fit. The photos don't do justice to the amount of work and thought put into this. Also plan to remove the push/pull cable and install a solid gear linkage.

Sump 2

I'm not doing too badly on this list. Started for first time on Megasquirt today and have just about finished working on my in car computer that is forming part of the interior re work

mark chandler - 29/1/17 at 08:13 PM

Turbo bolted up, ran up however now have an oil leak on the sump where I welded in the return pipe so that bits got to come off again

Unfortunately the battery has also given up, it's lasted 7 years so cannot really complain.

hkp57 - 30/1/17 at 01:44 AM

Pedal box upgrade nearly finished.

First drive yesterday and really happy with the mods. 1st to 2nd is now seemless and I can attempt speed bumps without the worry of hacking the sump.

Next job is the rear diffuser.

hkp57 - 12/3/17 at 07:12 PM

On top of doing the pedal assembly I also got around to fitting the GSXR 750 airbox modified by Cosmick on here.

Had a shakedown run in cold wet and greasy Knockhill on Saturday.

The feel on the brakes are night and day difference from the sierra MC, actually feels like a brake pedal rather than standing on a lump of stone.

Have to do some more work to the throttle pedal now, its has far to much travel under my foot that it's painful to bend my foot far enough back to get off the throttle, it also lead to a few missed gear changes due not getting far enough off the power to upshift.

With the airbox done it seams to pull much better at the top end and it's noticeably quieter

Yes it bugs me, not worked out how to fix it yet, to be honest though it's only really in the video it annoys me as on track I never look at it anyway, same with the shift lights
