I had to get her out today as i had a bloke come to pick up my spare engine block and took the opertunity to take some proper pics.
One thing im not sure about is whether i can get away with the side repeaters in the position they are in (taped to front of wing in pic). It meets
the visibility requirements but when on full lock (as in picture) it doesnt. Would thins be a problem?
would it be possible for you to host them on this site speedy? I cant see them at work and I'm interested in your progress
I know that Dax style side panel vents are popular these days... but I'm not sure if that's a little OTT!

how are you going to join the front red wings to the body / scuttle?
I can see that being an interesting challenge aesthetically.

ace!
speedy did put some stuff up a few weeks back about the joining issue, cant find the thread now though.
not sure that rear wheel arch will be IVA-able though?

i personally reckon it should stay 7 style.....
but if you have a plan in your head then i cant wait to see the outcome
going to try loading some badly mspaint'd pictures with an idea .....
thought it may work, not sure now.
ok, had a play .... sorry for the quality of the pictures - i'm no artist.
Idea is to extend the lines from the back of the current wing to the rear and angle them downwards.
This provides an issue about what to do with the scuttle as its going to poke up + you probably want hte height of the scuttle to mount water header
tanks ... if not its probably easier.
thoughts?
speedy bodywork idea
alternate view
the light green highlights the potential problem area with the scuttle ....
light colour highlights eek!
Sorry if this is rude, but do you really like that?
mike, i really like your thinking with those pictures, definitely a good direction to take the body work in I think.
Snap. I think that would work if you mounted a screen over the scuttle and wind deflectors over the gap between the scuttle and the panel.
As above, i think that idea can work really well with some good time put into it. Definitely put a screen on and it will cover up any differences with
the scuttle!
Keep it up!
if anyone else wants me to design their body work, i charge a very reasonable fee .....
Interesting designs you gonna need a screen with some wrap around on the corners - e type stylee ?
When I first saw the first pic, I thought the front wing was off an Austin Maxi

OK, at the risk of upsetting you... I don't like it. I think you should have gone with 7 styling. Sorry, speedy
It reminds me of when you used to watch BluePeter and they made something out of cardboard tubes and sticky back plastic and it looked realy good.
Then you made it, exactly the same way, and it didn't look anything like thiers.

I think he should just go for the e type body!
I dont want to upset you either but i dont like it at all...looks a bit chop shop leepoo to me, stick with 7 styling....sorry speedy!
Hmmmmm. No offence or owt - just my opinion - but I'm with the uurggghh brigade! I mean is there really any good reason to graft old jag body
bits onto your seven chassis other than because you have them lying around? I dunno. But maybe I've got a narrow-minded seven/sports car head
on? Perhaps I should think of the possible final result in terms of some sort of crazy custom/chop job? Hmmmmmm - sorry no I'm still wondering
why on earth all that weight is being welded to a capable seven chassis! I think you'll struggle to end up with something even remotely
attractive unless you can keep the curvature/style of those wings going and do something of a similar style at the back. Oh well it's bl**dy
interesting and unique which is what this site is about, so good luck to you.

Are we sure that Speedy isn't winding us up

Thanks for all the comments (even the urghh ones )
The reason i did it the way i have was mainly to save money and i really want this car on the road. If you have read any of my previous posts, you
will see that i also didnt like it and am still unsure.
The other issue is that im certain that there are no seven noses the right size for my car (6" wider than roadster) and no wings to fit 225/60/16
tyres.
Although i do think what Mike has done is a major improvement over my original plan (cheers mate ) which was to have a flat bonnet, tapered from the
back edge of the wing to the scuttle and fit a mesh grill to the gap, i think i may have to view the last few weeks of planning the body work as a
waste and start from scratch
Aaah well, we live and learn. Anyone want to buy a couple of TR6 wings?
lol @ loads of negative comments when it's still a long way from being finished. Go for it, I say. The transition from full front end to slim
rear could be very very hard to pull off, the slim rear could make it look quite hammerhead shark/spade like but if you can get it to work then do it
^_^, I'd go full bodied personally as it'd be easier to get a nice flowing line
Not sure that woudl pass IVA Benzine

Respect to the Munster's Koach!
And a photo of Dragula.
2nd hand damaged panels from racers/folk on here and repair is a good cheap way forward.
i got mine from race drivers, pretty much free really. a complete set of new panels is like £3500... yes, some of them were actually broken in half,
and badly repaired, or smashed up, but still a lot cheaper. you could easily get a damaged nose, cut it in half, widen it, and stick it all back
together
Speedy,
When I (and Craig1410 and a few other) started our builds, we were doing +4" and no-one was doing wider bodywork. So we bought a nosecone, cut
it in half and widened it. See pics in my archive 10000066/68/69
I also made my wheelarches - they took about 1/2 hour each.
Making arches is easy - see this diagram.
Making panels
Two sheets of MDF, cut slots in to profile of arch. Bend some ally and fit it into slots - you may need to brace the ends as ally tends to bow. Inside
I used plaster of paris to give the rounded edges of arches (using a piece of wood with profile cut out). Use a square edge for one side of rear
arches.
Grease and lay up. Wait an hour, remove do next.
They will need work, but this is a quick way of doing it and I did my scuttle in the same way
ATB
Simon
I got a set of cycle wings you can have for free - they are red, and not wide enough, but I bet you could widen them no probs - far easier than the
fabircation needed in your unique front end.
All the best whatever you decide mate - the good thing about a kit car is that it is YOURS, and very subjective - it would just be a real shame for
you to look back and think... what if...
i scrapped the first car i built (even after i had got it driving) because the bodywork was looking like too much effort. Dont underestimate how hard
it is to do it from scratch, especially when you're not entirely sure you will like the finished product.
Couldnt find a pic of it in my archive, but i one of my second car - cant believe they let me on trackdays it:

speak to clairetoo.....
she may be able to do you some carbon fiber bits.....
speedy i have some black front cycle wings 240mm
they might be just the job or could be fettled to suit at least.
my aunt lives in polegate and i could have brought them with me next time i visited but i don't know atm when exactly that will be, you can have
them free though if it stops you putting them tr6 wings on
