Striker Xflow swap to Zetec
Hi all,
Does anyone have photos of their engine mounts and pedal box modifications to put a Zetec in a 1999 Striker chassis? Any other points I should be
aware of?
Cheers in advance

Exhaust swapping sides.... so bonnet or bodywork required.
Edit: ignore that. I'm thinking duratec.

For useful tips on this engine replacement, see :-
http://www.toyne.org.uk/zetec-fitment.html
What are your plans for (a) induction/fuelling, (b) exhaust system, and (c) ignition arrangements?
Just in case, I have a spare s/steel Zetec exhaust manifold. U2U me if you're interested.
Work-in-Progress: Changed to Zetec + T9. Still trying!!

Ive been looking through all the documentation I have with teh car including original build manual but I dont see a picture of the fuel tank. If its
the original sylva one does anyone know the easy way to access the tank in a finished and IVA'd car? Also does anyone know if
a. It has a fuel return inlet and vent
b. or A vent that could be used as a return for Zetec injection.
If b Im thinking I could use a vented fuel cap if mine isn't already........

The original fuel tank is a mini van tank with a modded filler neck, it only has a 1/4 bore outlet with a vented cap.
I used the fuel pump assembly from the engine donor when i changed to a zetec engine, in a homemade swirlpot fitted through the top of the fuel tank,
reusing the feed and return on the pump assembly and blanking off the original outlet.
It is something i have been meaning to upgrade for years, as the mini tank only holds about 25l and is emptied pretty quickly. It does seem to get put
off year by year though - i have made all the patterns for a 45l tank, hopefully i will get around to fabrication this winter!
Regards your original questions, i bought the engine mounts from raw and did no modifications to the pedal box. I have added gussets to the raw mounts
due to stress cracking at the engine mounting plate, the design may have been modified since though.
I had to move the position of the gearbox mount holes in the tunnel by about 30mm, but i had changed to a t9 gearbox at the same time.

Great info thanks so much do you have a photo of what you mean about the gussets?

I've not got any pics to hand, but basically the gussets spread the load across the whole plate instead of just the weld area between the tube
and plate.
My mounts don't look pretty as they had been welded up 3 or 4 times before i added gussets, but have not cracked since.
