Banded steel wheels
Hi, I don't know if this is posted in the right section or not, but I am sure someone will tell me.
This past 3 months I have been helping my son set a business up making Banded steel wheels.
We sand blast the wheels cut them on a lathe for being true, roll the width of steel bands.
weld them in also checking for being true.
We can also paint wheels aswell and laquer
I am hoping that some one from here might be interested in banded wheels.
Thanks for your time.
Anyone interested please message on here as my son is in a noisy environment and sometimes can't hear
his phone.
Thanks
Mick

Depends on price, I'd love a set for my Volvo as I'm not an alloy fan one bit. There is a few companies around who do this already. I
think they look superb especially in bright colours.

Turbosports forum and Old Skool Ford would also have an interested customer base as in the past banded wheels were the only affordable way some of us
had to buy wider wheels.
I would be interested to know how you check they are airtight and whether they have distorted after welding which was a problem back in the day

Ditto - I'm not after any myself, but pictures and prices always help promote an offering.

For information regarding air leaks, we always put tyres on our wheels and leave them for a day or so and also check in the water bath. Any leaks and
we grind the area concerned off and then weld again. Then check again. We believe in giving a service second to none.
Our reputation and my sons business is at stake.
I have been a welder for over 30 years and now retired I am helping my son.
Giving him a start that I never had.

I would put a couple of pics up but I just don't know how to do it. It would be good to know as we are doing a set of wheels now and would like
to post them up in there stages.

That's better - prices, pics and moreover some process/quality info really helps - looks and sounds like a good service!

I'm a big fan of banded steels but the ones I got done in Scarborough were £200 for four. That was unpainted but I was getting them powder
coated anyway. Powder coating was £15 each in a flat black at Carnaby Coatings.
