Fault on my Sons 1.2 52 plate Polo

Hi,

Have got this code on the my Sons Polo 1.2 6v (read it with a VCDS (vag.com)) cable

1 Fault Found:
16500 - Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor (G62): Implausible Signal
P0116 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
Readiness: 0000 0100

I am having some difficulty finding the location of this sensor. Ringing around some places are telling me it is the sensor in the Radiator, but surely that is the Radiator FAN swicth and not a coolant sensor.

Can anyone assist please as to where this sensor is located ??

Cheers

Not that i know of.

W ehave been having intermittant engine management lights

I can clear the error, but then it comes back(to be fair this is the first time it has complained about engine coolant temp), we have also had intermittant fueling and Catalytic codes, when I have researched it seems that a false reading coolant sensor can upset the ECU and over fuel etc.

I think I have now located the sensor - Is it me or are Haynes manuals not what they used to be back in the 80's ??? I am sure they used to have a diagram to point out components as well as a diagram section to show how/where to find componets to change.., It seems many things are now just covered by a paragraph of text

Here's the test values of the two sensors depending on which engine code :

AWY First
AWY sensor values

2nd AZQ

Sorry there so small, it's something the site does now.

Many thanks, will pop out and get a new sensor tomorrow. Hopefully this has been causing the other intermittant fueling issue as well

A blown brake lamp causes a voltage change in a shared circuit and can through up all kinds of errors, we has 22 Polos a courtesy cars and this was a fairly common fault

My Golf 1.8 turbo does this occasionally and I find the problem to be the sensor in the header tank if coolant level is a little low
