That's a Riva, the Niva is their decent 4x4 that has a cult following.
Seems a bit rich for a Riva in puke beige.

I am amazed at some of the costs of wrecks on US TV shows. They were shite and still shite now.
Maserati 3500GT are a good price, The soft tops are bound to go up in the future. Unlike the bitubo boxes.

I think Sierras Coswrths are probably a good bet - a decent one is getting rarer and rarer...
Sapphires used to be dirt cheap compare to the 3 doorts, but prices have held in recent years, and do appear to be edging up

Oooh... interesting!
The Spyder has been stuck at the £15k mark for the past 5 years. Overshadowed by the 340r and not a particularly fast car. However, it's rare,
looks like nothing else and is pretty well stuck together!
Jury's out, but good shout...

Something like a 205 1.9 GTi, quite a few made, but not loads of mint ones left, had a big enough following for people to want one again in a few
years time.
They seems to be starting to hold their price.
I had a S1 106 Rallye, bought it for £1400 sold it 3 years later for £1200 to a mate, he then sold it 2 year on for £1200 again.

You just reminded me ^^^
The pugs are already of classic status and finding a nice one is tricky for decent money.
In my opinion though, the 172/182 is set to be what the 205 is now. It's as near to the original ethos of that pug than any other road car has
been lately, massive engine, light, shiit build quality. It's gonna be loved in years to come.
Just wait until they're cheap enough for the night event boys, than they'll start gettin rare.
172 bhp, xenon lights (forbidden unless std equipment), and lightweight. I know plenty of boys who are watching the prices, ready to tear one down the
lanes.

Well, I had a 1973 Fiat 500 (which got scrapped); I had a Lancia Fulvia (which got scrapped); I had a 1956 oval window Beetle (which got scrapped), my
father had a 21 window VW safari split window bus thingy which we left in Kenya.
I wouldn't ask me for advice on cars you expect to appreciate in value (except perhaps the Rover SD1 Vitesse)

I agree on the Smart Roadster, I've been thinking of swapping my car and they seem to cost about half what they did two years ago.
I think the real secret though is to buy something that was fairly common and keep it in good order for a long time because of the nostalgia thing,
especially hot versions. Mark my words, In 2030, Vectra VXR's and Mondeo ST220's will be changing hands for small fortunes.
Before the Scrapage you could buy a SAAB 9000 or Classic 900 for a couple of hundred quid, by august there were very few on auto trader.

I would have said the Smart Coupe over the Roadster... better looking car (IMHO) and was it not made in fewer numbers?

How about a MG ZT 260 or is it 280, the V8 rear wheel drive thingy. Very rare already, prices are still relatively high but i would have thought they
will drop a bit more??

I have a Peugeot S1 106XSi, 1.6 Petrol, in Red. Almost completely original and un-molested and owned by me since 1998. At the moment is SORN'd
in a mates barn awaiting a mild restoration / refresh.
For some reason it has a line about being a Group N Holmogation car on the Vin Tag?
I'm not hoping to sell / have it as an investment, just keep it long enough to become a useable, fast (ish), modern classic.

964 have stopped depreciating, i wonder if the 996 will, doubt it, but maybe a GT3 RS version would be ok
Would it be gold perchance? Sounds like the one advertised at work for £17.5! Mental money.

Im sure the Rallye (which probably shared its shell with the XSi) had some sort of rally homologation. Apparently all the points for the roll cage
were already welded in place too.

LOL, yes!! It is mint and he had loads of work done on it as it had an engine fault. Its had hours spent on it by various specialists, and everything
checked, rechecked and replaced in some cases even including chasing wiring through the loom. Turns out after all this it was a dodgy wire to the
lambda!!! The car is now amazing, like new to drive with the added security that there is definetly nothing wrong with it.
The last specialist who worked on it was the one who told him the value of the car and said he would buy it from him at that price, but couldn't
at the time due to other commitments.

I think the Smart Roadster will be a future classic, especially since there aren't that many around.
However, they might also be quite a niche thing as well, since they're no really that loved by the general public (hence why it was a short
production run).
We used to have a Speedsilver special edition which was basically fully loaded. The model I would go for would be a factory Brabus coupe in silver
with as many of the options fitted as possible.
Other future classics in the world of bikes are worth a look too - early R1's in original condition are starting to stabalise in price, just
like the first generation Fireblades did before they suddenly got a bit more expensive for a good 'un.

I knew I was on the border line, but I thought the direction of the thread was heading away from what was a future classic car to what would be worth
more in the long run than now, and I believe those two are still at an affordable price and will only go up (IMO) in which case I stand by my opinion!

If you measured the performance of an ISA against either of those cars over 5 years, I know where my money would be

Actually, I meant I'd be buying the car, not an ISA!
In the current state of things, I'd rather have my money parked in my garage under my own control than trust it to the banks. Get it right and
the returns will be much better as well.
