My tax ran out at the end of last month while I was out of the country.
I've come to SORN it this morning having not purchased a new tax disc and it says "This Vehicle Has Already Been Declared SORN"
I haven't done this since I've only just opened the letter this morning from the DVLA - so my question is;
If you don't renew your car tax, do the DVLA automatically SORN your vehicle ?
Must be new if they do?
As I got a fine for failing to SORN a car I bought that was SORN'ed by previous owner
Cover your a### send in a SORN form by post, keep a photo copy and proof of posting.
Theres no way they'd SORN automatically and cut off the revenue stream surely?!
Current DVLA website;
quote:
You’ll automatically be fined £80, will need to get a new tax disc and must pay any tax arrears if you don’t make a SORN when you have to.

I've done it on the internet, but this is a good shout - I'll do that today.
Cheers
