daniel mason - 30/7/12 at 12:52 PM

Just bought my first caterham today, and am really pleased!
Not powerful by some people's standards but very light and well set up. Full cage, carbon tillet seats etc. more details and pics later this week!

richardh - 30/7/12 at 01:03 PM

You've gone to the dark side Dan!

Can i have a sausage in a stick with onions then please?

Oh, you meant a Caterham (car with 4 wheels) and not a catering van........................

daniel mason - 30/7/12 at 02:10 PM

I see it more as an achievement accomplished! Always wanted one since I was young and at the ripe old age of 30 I've got it!
Would love to have a few rides out with any northern meets! If allowed.lol

richardh - 30/7/12 at 02:14 PM

nice one mate. good luck with it

maccmike - 30/7/12 at 03:07 PM

Cool! my dad had one about 20 yrs ago with 135 bhp, i loved it, was wal cheesed when he sold it, wanted it as my first car haha

johnny chimpo - 30/7/12 at 04:23 PM

Excellent, glad your keeping to a 7 style car. Would be good to see how you think it compares to the mnr.

Get pics up!

daniel mason - 30/7/12 at 05:22 PM

cant really fault the mnr really. ive had 2 of them and both very good quality.
the ability to have a decent screen and proper weather gear is what swayed me to the caterham, plus the handling
its surprising how small it is compared to the mnr. its tiny!

scootz - 30/7/12 at 05:25 PM

Nice one!

I loved mine... the only problem was that it was just too small for my size 12 feet!

daniel mason - 30/7/12 at 05:39 PM

size 8 for me mate! just ok!
also, how do i upload photos? everytime i try to upload to archive it says they must be alpha numerical? they are on my pc as caterham dash, caterham seats etc? am useless with computers! lol

ali f27 - 30/7/12 at 05:44 PM

thanks. and after selling the mnr and buying this i have £3k to pay off some more of my mortgage which is what i was after!

franky - 2/8/12 at 08:44 PM

Or fit a bigger engine

daniel mason - 3/8/12 at 09:41 PM

wouldnt want to add any un-necessary weigh franky. so im working out.getting fit. lightweight car, small engine, probably the best 7 type chassis,
that way when we meet on track, and your either in your hairdressers car or your old heavy 7, ill just drive straight round the outside of you round a corner and you wont see me again till i lap you! lol

Push bikes faster at the moment lol

But will be back on the road one day lol

daniel mason - 3/8/12 at 10:23 PM

these cars are all about balance, not understeer into corners to oversteer on the way out then blasting down straights. at roadspeeds this should be awesome, and it has a stack dash like the r500

unijacko67 - 3/8/12 at 10:29 PM

See the mnr avatar has been dumped, has the new motor arrived yet Dan. Pop round when you get it, kettle will be on.

daniel mason - 3/8/12 at 10:39 PM

I know, its lucky that you can only get the above combination with a caterham

Looks like a nice car, must be nice to have something to use, slightly gutting to see your old car go too?

unijacko67 - 3/8/12 at 10:48 PM

mnr did look good, I bet he's pleased with it. It grew on me, wasn't sure at first, but looked ace in that garage with the other mnr's.

daniel mason - 4/8/12 at 08:21 AM

if i had your talent or patience franky id have been able to complete the build. but i really ran out of patience with it in the end. the car was up im my parents garage and it was taking up all my spare time. it was getting to the point where i couldnt be arsed to go and do any work on it.
gutted i never got to drive it in anger as it looked and sounded amazing!

unijacko67 - 4/8/12 at 09:08 AM

I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew as when I last did anything it had points, condenser and coil. Easy to be patient when I've told the wife its not gonna cost much. I'm gonna have to improvise to keep cost down.

daniel mason - 4/8/12 at 02:55 PM

youll be ok jacko. you have an eye for a bargain and i like all the expensive stuff. my ecu/wiring and dash/wiring cost nearly £2.5k and id imagine it could be done for way less.
the race technology dash 2 was a hell of a bit of kit though. only hope my stack dash is as good
