OUCH!!!
Took my lovely little Fury into the garage so they could set up the carbs and get it ready for the alps tour in four weeks time.
Got a call from them to say we're very sorry, but the mechanic had just crashed it into a fence on the test drive.
New bonnet required.
replace 'test drive' with 'joy ride'
Id want a repair and some compensation!
What he said ^^^
and this is why I wont leave my car with a garage I havent used before.
Still dont get the need for a 'road test' if they are being setup on a rolling road.

Apparantly his foot slipped off the brake and he hit the fence as he brought it back into the garage. I've used them on many occasions - no
probs, but still upsetting.
I'm fairly chilled out and know that - poo happens

Worse than that!
I've just got home and discovered that -
The woman in the local pie shop has given me two meat and potato instead of chunky steak
Now in Wigan - that's a real crime! Unforgivable.
oh man! Thats awful news, people should really be more careful
Meat and potato when you wanted chunky steak
I hate it when that happens

Whats that movie -Taris Buellers' day off ? Some kids take their mate's father's pride and joy to a car park and as soon as they walk
out the door the dudes are away for the joy ride of their lives.
Guess it isn't really funny under the circumstances....

I know how you feel. Brand new motorcycle taken in for 1000km inspection two days before Canadain GP, the mechanic dropped it, it wasn't fully
repaired until September.
The fun part was when they asked for my insurance details to fix the bike, didn't happen. By the way the I rode the damaged bile to the GP, 500
km one way.
Well at least I still have my motorbike - and two meat and potatoe pie's!
Well, one meat and potatoe pie now!

sorry to hear that, have you tried Steve at Fury Sports Cars, he had a spare one when I crashed mine. The other option is to repair yours temporarily
with some grp repair kits, and then fix it later.

Thats the plan so far - unless Lee still has his for sale and want's to lend it me for the Alps tour??
What about it Big Lee - I'll look after it!
[Edited on 16/5/12 by Tommy P]
Well I certainly did'nt expact that - Ta Lee
Oh crap! that's bad news, TommyP - I'd go to your solicitor first thing in the morning! They just don't care who they take on in these pie shops nowadays! Still, mix the pie fillings with some GRP powder, and it should be good to fix the Fury's bonnet....
I feel your pain, i had this same thing with the tintop a year ago, only just getting the cheque through from the insurers now

Gutted mate, let me know if I can do ewt...
Was'nt that one Dennis - not going to say which garage just yet.
Cheers Steve, nowt yer can do mate except share me pie - how's you, missed you at Stoneleigh. I heard you were in the bar
i wouldnt be so quick to run and get a lawyer, if theyre saying sorry and well pay for the fix then its annoying but these things happen.
I wouldnt like a garage not to test drive my car, its like a cook that doesnt taste the food theyre making...
The garage concerned have always been ok and the test drive was on the industrial estate they trade on, and you can't really get much speed up
there as it's just a concrete strip. In their defence (which may seem strange), they have indicated, that they are prepared to do whatever it
takes to put things right.
My main concern is that, things are put right for the trip in 4 weeks and two days time.
They have agreed to make repairs on a temp basis, so I can do the trip and then, complete full repairs with a new bonnet etc when I return from the
trip.
They seemed genuinely gutted, especially the mechanic.
Watch this space for updates.......
Sorry to hear that. Go check for number 11's heading to the fence.
ouch
obligotary photo, more to follow, im going to see the car at the garage !
that is tidy, bit of grp, and a rattle can and it will be sorted.
Although when they fix it, I would push for some of those nice headlamp covers,...

You have to be kidding ? If a garage smashed my bonnet , nothing less than a new one would do for me
It always makes me laugh when people say go get a lawyer when something like this happens. Slightly different if it had been squashed into a ball
taking out a bus stop full of people.
People need to realise that the majority of garages take care of cars and don't go crashing them on purpose - accidents happen.
I am sure the ones saying go get a lawyer have never ever made a mistake in their lives

So long as nothing is bent behind the bonnet I would get then to temp fix and order a new bonnet while your away, I would guess this would be cheaper than for them to fix then GRP (due to time not materials).. You might even get to sell the old bonnet on ebay
