Well this sort of thing never happens to me so thought I would share my experience today at Oulton Park. Basically last minute yesterday I got invited
to a Jaguar Experience at Oulton Park. Some of you may have been on this kind of corporate thing before but it was new to me and a great morning. Had
to get up at 5.10 am but hey.
After the obligatory marketing spiel we got 3 sessions. First was a passenger lap in the XJ Supersport LWB with an ex touring car driver who liked
going sideways......amazing power and handling for such a barge. Next up was a skid pan ice road session showing the winter mode and stability system
in XF diesels.
Then onto the circuit for a couple of laps driving he XF 3.0l diesel......fantastic torque and an 8 speed gearbox. Followed by a slalom course, got 3
runs each in that.
Finally about 5/6 laps in an XFR supercharged v8 .....mega quick and great noise and then the best was saved for last. Laps in the new
XKR-S........bloody brilliant....I could wax lyrical about it, got held up a bit on track but still thoroughly enjoyed it and if you get the chance
then would highly recommend it.
Anyway when you sign in you get this nice leather bound USB stick........which when you get in the XKR-S the instructor plugs into the vbox and they
record your laps for you.
Turn up the volume and enjoy and feel free to take the piss.........

This was the link I got sent.
Rich
that looks like so much fun.
Did you have to control the shifts in the XKR-S or did it do them itself? How was the car by the way, it's top of my list of things to buy if I
win the lotto.
Looks great, and you didnt get overtaken!
some of the others were pedestrain in comparison
Steve
Well embarrassingly my instructor told me to put it in D which I did and other than some hesitation exiting the chicanes which I put down to the
traction control cutting in which t also did in the XFR, I never even thought to use the paddles. Basically I am not used to driving autos but it was
soooo competent as an auto I never even looked at the rev counter. I just nailed in to the floor whenever possible.
Only when I got out did someone say they couldn't believe how quick the paddle changes were did I think..... Doh!
The way it piled up speed from 40 to over 100 was incredible.
I thought it was brilliant. Steering was quite light but that's modern sportscars for you. Think I would lose my license in about 5 minutes
though on the road!

They are great cars aren't they!
I've driven the XKR and the latest XKR-S and I just couldn't believe how fast they were. I know they've got over 500 bhp each (510 and
550bhp I think) but wow! no holding them back, wheelspin very easy even in auto
... and don't they sound amazing
I sort of assumed there would be one or two XKR-S(s) there as I thought they were rare beasts.........
They had a few (and a few in reserve). Hell of an operation.
A few XKR-Ss
Rich
Sounds brilliant and looks like good fun. Thanks for sharing.
