Was looking for an item on the bay and found
this
If you go onto their website they state free delivery, so why is it £9.99 P & P for an item that probably costs about £2 to post?
Mind you, I also checked out their feedback, not too encouraging....
its to equal the price
on ebay its £4.99 + £9.99 P+P = £14.98
and on their website it is £14.99 + £0 P+P = £14.99
So it's actually cheaper on the bay.
And then they pay less Ebay fees.....
Very annoying practice though..... until Ebay introduce the "sort by price including postage" option anyway...
because ebay charge fees for the selling price, but not on P+P, so they lose less money through ebay doing it that way
eBay charge an amount to list an item which is proportional to the starting price. Therefore, the price is often set low to keep this down and the
postage is used to make up the difference.
Shady practice, and against eBay rules when it's done excessively but just take a look at most of the Hong Kong auctions and you'll see that
they all do it!

I know why they do it, just damn annoying that they can
I'm just waiting to see if some muppet bids more than £5 on it
Always amazes me how much some people bid on stuff just to win it!
'Sort by price including postage' is already there...
On my account, I've also changed the default layout to include a column to show p&p.

If you then go for a refund on an item I think you only ever get the cost of it back minus P&P. Not sure how a paypal claim would deal with
this?
This always scares me of the Chinese auctions for 99p plus £10 p&p etc.

Click "report item",
"Listing policy breaches"
"Listing policy breaches" (again)
"Circumvention of eBay fees"
eBay don't like it when they lose out on their fees, they'll do something about it pretty quickly, unlike when you report shill bidding,
'cos they make more money from that
Done!
Buy it and I'll go and collect it for you. Then I'll pop it in the post for £6.99....!
