So my boss has just asked me about 'funny little sporty cars' as he's decided that he want's something for the summer to have fun
in. From what I can gather, he's after something like an Elise S2, VX220, or something similar. Budget is around £10K. He seems willing to
consider a finished kit but doesn't want anything 'thrown together in a shed' so I steered him towards factory built kits but the
prices seem a bit high.
Any suggestions?
Ed.
i would have said my mnr.it fits the criteria but someone is coming round to se it on sunday, and im hoping we can strike a deal!

Is he a 'driver', or just wanting something a 'bit fun'?
If he's a driver and he wants a car that handles and is reliable, then he won't go too far wrong with the VX220... £10k will get a Turbo
too.
If he just wants something that's a bit of fun for occasional, then a Z3M is well within budget... get over the 'girly' tag (the M is
anything but) and you've got a well put together car that goes like stink and is reasonable round corners.
Both cars seem to be reaching their 'base-value' too, so unlikely to lose a great amount on either.
Sounds like a mid life crisis
What about a second hand caterham?
Or if you find a good one, a toyota MR2 Turbo. Definetly a quick car and handles well if the driver is good.
MX-5. Its been said before, but its all things to all men.
There's a very pretty 3.0 Z4 on here
Z3M's are not as reliable as you would like to think: Vanos - £2000+, Rear diff ripping off the chassis (1 in 3 chance of happening)
£4-6000..................
Tell him to get an Caterham

Then you can exercise it for him
boxster.

The father-in-law has just brought a Z3 for his second mid life crisis, not a bad car, handles reasonably well but very underpowered. Not a patch on the Z4 though!
Wow - cheers guys... I've sent him a list of things to take a look at (and that Z4 is pretty high up on it!).
Thanks everyone!
Ed.

The 3.0L Z4 is a fantastic bit of kit. I had the coupe version (chassis 2x as stiff) and it was amazing. Those were the days before I needed room for
a baby and 4 wheel drive for the snow.

He could make an offer on my MotaLeira, but I want a lot more than 10K for it!

No mate, i'm an AA patrol so i do know a thing or two about them. Some people get a good one and love them but i've been out to more overheating and headgasket faults than i care to remember.
