A good argument with the IVA tester
l0rd - 2/2/10 at 07:34 PM

Right, been looking at some pictures earlier on and i saw something very funny.

Now If an IVA tester fails your joy if you secured the brake lines on the wishbone with cable ties, show him this.

Cable ties
Cable ties

If in F1, the can use cable ties to secure cameras on the wishbone, then it should be more than enough for a brake line to be secured with cable ties.

looks like the brake line on the front with cable ties too

Good spot, but I really think it may be a bad idea to rub the IVA inspector up the wrong way, I can see both retests being failed too

and how have you lifed your components?

are you going to change your wishbones/flexis/cable ties after every run out? month? year?

i imagine he'd lol if you took that picture as evidence you were perhaps joking but someone might try it...

There's a fair bit on an F1 car that'll fail IVA so a pretty weak argument to use if you ask me!!

The cable tie only has to last a couple of hours - not even that, if they see that it's loose during a pit-stop, and replace it.

My brake lines were cable tied to the wishbones and were just fine 3 years and 10,000 miles later when I sold it. I can't see the problem myself.

sometimes i think my car is held together with cableties!

You can't compare an F1 car with a kitcar. A) the money invested and B) a F1 car is solely used for the track. IVA is all about having a safe car on the road. Think of it from the inspectors POV.

F1 use some pretty nice cable ties, not your normal fair.

I reckon that's a fairly persuasive argument... If I get stopped in my Locost for speeding I'm going to say I used the accelerator pedal out of a Toyota Corolla
