Vodou Auto Kits
Just stumbled across this site which has amended the original roadster design to suit the MX5 donor vehicle and in doing so incorporates the mountings
and bracketery to suit the parts from the MX5 whilst trying to reduce the weight slightly.
Have any of you used their chassis plans?
They seem like a very professional set up with fully CAD'd drawings etc for the chassis construction.
If any of you have used it have you done so with the Mk1/2 MX5 or the latter Mk3?

Ah yes, I tried registering at that site to download the plans and see what they did, but I never actually managed to register and get logged in!
I've just tried again, first my password isn't being accepted and now I've tried their reset password and can't get anywhere
with that either.
Shame really, I'd have liked to see what they've done.

Can someone please help me with a Vodou query.
I am using the voodoo plans to build the chasis for my MX5 based Haynes roadster.
I have a query on part LR13 & LR14. On the chasis drawing LR13 appears to be longer than LR14 but on the details the opposite is the case.
I have cut to the dimensioned details but before i weld can you confirm if this is the case (ie the engine mounts sit closer to LR10 than LR13).
Would hate to do a load of work and then be forced to alter it later.

You might get a better response if you post a couple of pictures up to show what you are asking.
Obviously not many people have experience of that particular chassis.
"That thing you're thinking - it wont be that."

Fair point. Here we go.
Layout drawing is as bellow showing LR13 being longer than LR14 resulting in the engine mount location being closer t the front.
Description
Cutting details show it the opposite way round resulting in teh engine mount being located further back.
Description
I would have thought the cutting details would be the one to go from rather than a 3D layout but before i go welding it in can someone confirm what
way round it should go. Even if you have not used the Vodou design for your chasis, the mounting pints to all chasis should be the same?
Right now it is a very simple job to swap them round but knowing my luck if i dont check then i will end up with a major job of relocating further
down the line..

If I was doing that, I would just leave those two pieces off untill the remainder of the chassis had been completed. Then it would be a simple job to
offer up the engine and gearbox to see where it all falls into place, then your sure of them being in the correct orientation. Just my 2d's
worth. HTH Ray
To make a car go faster, just add lightness. Colin Chapman - OR - fit a bigger engine. Chippy
