Well its taken me a year and a half of weekends and evenings to build the car from start to finish. I have done everything myself, all fabrication
from rollcage, bodywork fibreglass vents to painting etc and as its my first go I am chuffed with the results!
Got my test on Monday 8th June so please let me know if I have any areas for concern. Cant wait to get it on the road and see whats its really like.
Weight distribution is dead on 50/50 which was a complete stroke of luck! (not posted photos before so hope this works)
Spec is :
-Rover V8
-65 litre fuel take
-Adjustable coilovers
-Rose joint adjustable wishbones (on outer joints only)
-Hi Spec 4 pots front and 2 pots rear
-Race Tech Dash
-R888's

Wow thats stunning.
I love the bulge on the bulge look.
Excellent job, love the retro 70's custom feel to the car (IMO).
Only comment I would say is to get a noise meter app for your mobile phone and check the db levels against the IVA manual method and pass marks (tick
over and IIRC half stated max revs, or used to be for SVA), those exhaust do not look like they have much sound deadening in them.

Looks mint, well done
Have you made the dash/tunnel top etc?
One thing that should fail(although one passed on here not long ago with similar ) is the side repeators on the mirrors, have a look at the angles of
rear visibilty in IVA manual.

Excellent job on the panels you've made fairdos!
The car needs side repeators, and they need to be visible from the rear of the car.The ones on your mirrors are not visible from the rear at all.
pretty sure they need to be visible from 5 to 45 degrees from standing at the rear of the car.

Nice look! Loving it
Looks sweet mate, very mean looking. Hats off to you, looks like a quailty job. Your exhausts must be loud as mine are loud with 5 inch silencers!
I would be interested to know what dB killers you are using. I am applying for the iva now.
Check the radiuses on your exhaust tips. They should be rolled edges for iva.
Stunning
Massively impressed you've scratch built that in 18 months. Good luck with IVA and let us know how you get on.
Where is the engine bay shot ? Very nice job.
I really like it , a really nice job and good luck with the iva
loving it - agree re the side repeaters and also the need for an engine bay shot!!! like the idea of the double scoop need to see what is under there being a rv8 fanboy myself!
looking good, loving the nose cone, is that your own work with the vent or is it an off the shelf item?

The angles of visibilty are pretty severe to the rear, you can either fit to the outside of front or rear arches or probably on yours you might get
away with them on front legs of the rollcage.
Menacing look. Love it!
With regards to repeaters, its 5 degrees from rear, so very important to add some repeaters else where, higher than rear arches. Also make sure you
blank the ones left on the mirror as you are only allowes 1 set of repeaters.
Ok so have ordered some small side repeaters to add to the front arches. I will leave the mirror indicators wired up for now and if the tester wont
allow it I can disconnect on the day I guess..
As for exhaust tips, I was going to rotate these so that they face the floor. They should be fine for the radius then and hopefully it will drown out
a couple of decibels...
trying to post a a photo of the engine but everytime I try it just shows somebody elses photo instead of mine.. not sure why..

Last year at a mates IVA I suggested this to a Friendly IVA Tester and he said you could try it and he would accept it for the noise test but he doubted it would make much difference to the noise test on a twin exhaust setup as the ground will reflect the noise and the noise from the opposite exhaust will add to the noise tested. The tester was very accommodating for the noise test and even took the car to the far end of the car park to test were sound couldn't reflect. If your very lucky the tester might let you rotate both exhausts away from the microphone after the radius tests have been done.

interesting thought. I shall do a few tests this week with my DB meter to see what happens...
Ok so had my test first week of June.
Examiner loved the car but it failed. Went with the intention of a fail so was not too dis heartened.
Fails were -
- Noise, 105db !!!! (had to fit a second silencer which is also perfect for trackday noise regs)
- Couple of radius issues, stereo, headlight bracket, passenger dash edge
- Hose standoffs needed on where my brake lines where they zip tie to the wishbones
So very minor stuff really. He said as soon as I started it to get it off the trailer he knew it was going to fail on that but he thought he would not
say till the end of the test.....
Took car back at the start of June and now its passed!!!!! Just wanting on my V5 documents etc from the DVLA. They have a 2 week backlog so they
should look to process my on Monday 20th July, so fingers crossed I don't have any problems there.
Overall chuffed with the car and if I went for anther IVA test I am sure it would pass first time now I understand the rules a little better.
