savage Switch wiring
How has everyone wired their savage switches?
1) so they illuminate all the time when the ignition is on
2) illuminate when the button is in the ON position?
I think they look really cool when illuminated all the time, but then you cant tell that they are on, and id need some kind of bulb/display to say
which lights are on.
where as if i wire them to illuminate when they are on that is the only indication i need?

savage switches are very bright. If they are on all the time, especially at night, you will be blinded!! 
If your wanting to show off to someone, perhaps just turn everything on 
Thats my experience regarding my fog light switch.

I believe that there is a dimmer kit?
Probably only an inline resistor for each one.
I am going to wire mine to my sidelight switch so that they are on at night (with resistors). You want to be able to see the symbols in the dark
instead of trying to memorise their postions.
My bright6 will be the telltale for wether the switches are on or off. Afteral, most car switches work this way.

It depends on which switch you are talking about.
I have the following illuminating with the sidelights:
Sidelights
Lo Beam
HI Beam
Horn
Start
And then the three illuminating at different times:
Hazards (Illuminating when the hazards are flashing. Also this is a red Ill. not blue)
Brake Test (Illuminating only when activated at Reservoir or Handbrake UP position)
Fog Light Rear (Fed back into itself so that you don't need a seperate bulb to tell you that your fog lamp is on)

Hazards, Brake test & fog telltales are all on the bright6.

Which is fan-dabby-dozy for you, but not everyone has a bright 6...

Mmmm been thinking about this one, while tidying out the garage after a busy day yesterday.
I think that it would be possible to illuminate the switches with the ign or side lights through a resistor and diode setup to give a dull backlight.
Then a seperate feed from the switch when it is ON to brightly illuminate the switch while the already fitted diode prevents a back feed to the
sidelights/ign.
Then again the savage switches are illuminated by leds so perhaps this won't work??
Anyone care to comment?
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

I have a 12v feed to my Savage side light switch that when switched on feeds the side lights and all the savage switches through a 8K resistor each
for low illumination. When any other Savage switch is switched on it then gets a full 12v feed for full illumination.
Works very well for me, here is an example of my wiring:

Both the above comments are great (a lot more than I could achieve on my own without advice!) but if it were me, I would want them Dim when they were
on, so that at night they were dimmer (which is the time when they really interfere with your vision...)

My dash was blinding me at night (8 savage switches) so I had to limit them with a small variable resistor in series with the power feed to the led
backlighting. I think I used a 5K pot or there abouts, which dimmed it all down to the right levels.
Regarding the 'how do I know it is switched on' aspect, you can see when the button has been depressed quite easily so the lighting is not
neccessary imo.

mhh i'm gonna use 2 voltage regulators...
one is 6volts and the main is 8volt..(i guess)
if put the lights on the 6volts reach the led... (for position at night)
one side of the switch i use to switch between the 6 and the 8 volts...
so the tell tale is brighter..then the interior lights the other side of the switch i use to switch the item..
as easy as dell...
