anyone ever used ANY hydraulics?
not sure if this belongs in the electrics forum...
Has anyone ever used hydraulics on thier car? i don't mean suspension wise, but for any body work or rear wing application?
I want something hydraulic on my car (thinking of using a hydraulic system from a convertible roof) for lifting some bodywork or an andjustable rear
wing on my car.
has any one on here ever done anything like this?

what have you got the pump doing? or is it still on the escort?
see on my avatar, the wing on the back of the truck, i fancied making one of them on mine, but adjustable as its going to be very light on the back

it would prob be lighter if you used electronic actuators but this only cost me a tenner from the scrapyard.

nice one! thanks for the info Adam
it probably would be lighter with electric actuators, but i like things with hyraulics, and really want something fitted. the idea is to have a back
wing which is adjustable to various angles, and also, once the wing is fully extened, the panel which the wing is attached to will then lift, exposing
the fuel tank and filler. kind of like below
hydraulics?
pink dots is where its hinged. obviously there's things like stops to be put in place, otherwise the wing would fold right over then the
hydraulics would rip it off

i was thinking to move the whole wing up and down like some cars when you get to 70mph the wing lifts. but your way you can alter the down force.
or i was thinking of using the electric motor off the seat rails as some are very small.

i think you should use the motors, so that way you won't need the hyraulics, so i can buy them off you! lol!
only joking, i'd go hydraulics since they'd be fairly exposed to water and rain etc the pump can be placed somewhere dry.
really, there's no reason why my wing should be adjustable, it would just be quite cool
