Alternator Belt Tensioning?

Hi Guys

In a similar vain to another post to day, I have a problem with my alternator belt.

I took Mk’s advice and mounted the alternator off the water pump. Ok so far the problem has always been that there is little adjustment and getting the belt tight is very difficult and depends on the sliding mount at the top for structural support. To change the belt requires the alternator to be removed a B~~~~r of a job.

Has any one put a belt tension wheel on before?

How does the pinto cam belt tensioner work? Could it be mounted some how and used to tension the alternator belt.

Suggestions please as the squeal is really P~~~~~g me off.

regards

Ditch

I'm thinking of getting one simply because it looks like a well engineered solution to a common problem.

thanks for that.

looks like about 50 quid if i'm reading the price list correctly, for full mounting kit. wonder if they sell the top only? will have to call.

also thought of this mounted on the top arm some how to provide tension.

I didnt bolt onto the water pump at all, decided to use the pivot on the cobbled together alt bracket and make up a slider on the top bolted to a spare M8 thread on the pinto head.

Unfortunatly i have not kept any of the old parts when i did the engine change. Rescued attachment 2Dscn0150.jpg
