thats bloody close.

The only difference is that the one i have has 4 terminal inside the round bit (only 3 of them used tho'

It has has 2 going verticle, with one horizontal under each of the verticle ones. The right hand horizontal one is the one which is not used, so i think they must be similar Thanks

If possible the wire which feeds the regulator needs to be disconected when cranking. It means less load on the starter and regulator.

Also make sure the voltage sence wire is connected right or the altanator will thing the battery is flat and over charge (not good).

Sorry but the manual I have must be for an older model as it has a different connector.

Ok, just found a very usefull online manual site for honda's. As the rover is just a re-badged honda or visa versa, they should be the same

after finding this manual for the honda verity, I now think that the black and yellow is the ignition, and the white and blue goes to the warning lamp. does that mean that the blue wire is a constant live from the battery?

ok programable fuel injection ecu, but dies it feed to the ecu or get a signal from the ecu.

One part I read said that at high revs the ecu stops the alternator charging. Does this seem right? does it stop it charging by cuting the supply to this terminal ?

It means you are looking at the diagram for the old Rover 216GSi with a Honda engine not a 214
Rover 214s used Lucas-Magnetti Marrelli alternators

I think you actually need the wiring diagram for a later Rover 200/400 or 25/45

Its the honda one i was after.

At the scarppy, they had two on the shelf marked rover 214 and rover 216. They were both identical apart from the 214 one had the connector, and was a lot cleaner.

It defo np tho
