Battery position
I am thinking of moving my battery to the little a panel in front of the engine
first possible problem would be heat from the rad, any one else done this with a proper car battery not motor cycle "aa" or race battery
or any one got any thoughts on this, that could give me problems ??
regards
steve

Only probs I could see are the lengths of cable required and puttting a big weight outside the wheelbase.
Cheers

Many cars, like metro, have a front battery.
to my mind, do you really want summat thats likely to burst into flames in accident right in a frontal impact area?

Passenger's footwell seems ideal because it is low (good for C.O.G.) and it is on the passenger's side which is good for weight
distribution when there is no passenger in the car. I hope to either put it on the passenger's scuttle or just in front of the passenger's
seat, in an aluminium box.

Craig.

Mine's in the conventional place - on top of the passenger's footspace, just in front of the scuttle.
It's the logical place - you'd be hard placed to find another location that would give you shorter cables from the battery through the
solenoid to the starter.
Also there's spare space there, not used for anything else.
cheers,
David

i put mine smack in the middle of the area in front of the bulkhead, next to pedal box. keeps the wiring central, and in a safe place.
to sound like a real pessimist - if the battery is in passenger compartment if the car rolls in an accident, the dripping acid might be an
issue.....

I think (i have had it a while!) its mk1 metro, with a small chance its a fiesta.
The other placcy container in front of it is the ABS fluid tank and control block.
