zx9r speed sensor, questions, questions!!

ok, so having finally got my dash gauges together, the speedo doesn't work, i've looked where the speed sensor is fitted over the prop and there is two tapped holes about 50mm apart on the prop, having read on other threads about magnets etc and having no idea of how things should be, the questions are, .... does this look right? if i need magnets attatched to the prop what sort? does it need to be a strip or would one screw into the holes? where would i get them from? as you probably realise, i'm in the dark here so any clues would be gratefully received, if you don't ask you don't learn!! cheers roger

If your using the standard zx9 sensor, then you dont need magnets, it will pick up off anything that passes close by, i use the prop bolt heads to trigger mine, you have to be real close for it to work.

cheers al (wadders) it is the standard sensor so that saves me loads of hassle; i'll just screw somegrub srews into the tapped holes, do i need two or just the one?

Try putting one, two, three or more in to see which one gets you closest to the right speed.

Are you sure its not working ?

The reason I ask is that to match my blade clocks I needed 9 magnets, then no-longer require a speedo healer et al, with only one magnet it does not appear to work as you are effectively going very slowly but will eventually clock miles on the odometer.

Jack the rear wheels off the ground and let it spin for a while.
