Will a Fiat Cinquecento Alternator work on my Zetec?

Hi all,
I've got a Fiat cinqy alternator, and due to the size of it, it would be perfect for the build, anyone know of any problems I'll have using it? I will need to change the pulley but cant see that as a problem, and fabricating mounts should be easy, but what about rotation? Can anyone tell me which way the zetec rotates? I havent a clue at the minute.
Cheers
Matt

If 500 alternator is "trapezoidale" pulley maybe you can not change it to poliv.
If 500 is poliv than there is no problem. If it is 5 poliv instead of 6 (as in zetec) it is no problem, you will use a 5 poliv belt.
I used standard mondeo alternator. Rescued attachment HPIM1679.JPG

that may be a problem; the hole in the pulley should be same as that of the spindle, a smaller hole can be enlarged. (old lucas havre smaller spindle than newer ones).

Also the pulley need to run in the same plane, you should be ableto correct that wit your mounts.

Also alt/crank pulleys should have diameters 1:2 (i.,e. alt runs at twice engine speed). If you have too small alt pulley and run at high rpm, it ain't gonna be happy.

If you need a simple v-belt pulley, I may have details of a man who can make one out of ali for about £ 30.

Aslo direciton - if you have a wide belt (serpentine arrangmement) then you need to be sure the alternator turns in same direction as engine (I can't see why ot won't work in the oppostie drirection but better to go with knowns).
